Paddle Tail Swimbaits

Featured Replies

what are your guys opinions on the best paddle tail Swimbaits? I'm looking for something I can put on a jig head or on the weighted Swimbaits hooks. I want a bait with a real nice natural action to it. I'm looking for it to be like 4 1/2-5 inches in length. Anybody got a brand in mind? and what's your favorite color?

berkley havoc grass pig.  swamp gas.

5" & 6" Basstrix

4" & 5" Little Crippers Trash Fish

Kietech for A-rigs thin body swimmers.

You don't have any reference to your location, Shad colors are good nearly everywhere.

Both the above are the original of this design, Basstrix for hollow bady, Little Crippers for large fin solid body, lots of knock off's, the originals are better fish catching lures.

These are what I fish: Shadalicious, Berkley Hollow Belly, Keitech Swing Impact Fat,

MegaStrike Fat Shads and GYCB Swimming Senko.

I like the 5.5" Berkely Sick Fish (disco shad) for weighted swimbait hooks.  And for jigheads the Big Hammer swimbaits (bleeding trout) are awesome.

I like yum money minnow.

I'm getting I to the gambler ez swimmers. I'm fishing them on a weighted swim bait hook. Haven't fished them much yet. But white lightning, red ear, and copper field have gotten some attention. I'm swimming them sub surface and top water.

All I use anymore are Skinny Dippers and Big EZ

I use the Skinny Dipper on one of my A Rigs. The action is too strong (for me) as a free standing bait,

but is great on The Rig.

I use a wide variety of swimbaits and they each have their time and application. Recently I have started using Missile Baits Shockwaves and I am very impressed with their performance, especially for the price.

NetBait BK Swimbait in black shad or smoking shad have really good action, That paddle tail really moves some water.

R.I. little, skinny, and big dippers depending on the situation.

I had great luck with the Zoom swimmin flukes and some that Paul Krew poured up for me. You can find him on facebook and he can do ANY color combination you can dream of. I had him do a natural shad color (black top / white bottom with silver flake and bloody gills). This along with original Megastrike, I smoked them throughout 2014.

Anything Keitech if I'm putting it on a jighead, Electric Shad is my favorite color. I really like the Havoc Sick Fish if it's going on a swimbait hook, New Penny gets the nod in the color department.

I also like the big and skinny dippers and big ez's as well. Another smaller bait I've had success on are zoom swimmin' flukes. And I really like the owner Ribeye swimbaits, picked up a few packs when they were on sale at TW for $1.50. They exceeded my expectations! Next I'd like to try the Little Creepers...

I like the Zoom paddle tails in bluegill flash with either a 1/16th or 1/8th weighted hook. I started with those because they are only ones I can get at Wal-Mart.I've also used some local made ones (7fifteen) that I like, and I'm waiting on some Gambler EZ swimmers from Tackle Warehouse. Whichever ones I use, they are a big part of my bass catchin arsenal.

Zoom and RI on a Owner weighted hook is a good place to start.  I am sure everything mentioned works as I have not tried a paddle tail that did not.
