Best Rod For Fishing Senkos?

Featured Replies

Looking for a new rod to use for purely senko fishing, I know I like 7' m fast action, but theres so many rods to choice from. Whats the best senko rod for $250 and under?

Its tough out there these days. You have to trust a companies reputation and hopefully get some experienced opinions about almost everything available. Maybe look for a review on youtube.

If you want a 6'6" or a 7' Rod take a look at the Team Lews rods on sale at American Legacy Fishing. It's a once in a lifetime deal.

Many of us here on the forum took full advantage. We bought up a ton of them and we're all thrilled with them. I bought 2 and I'm glad I did, They're fantastic rods.

WPC,

Were you able to get the rods in Fast Action? I'm not sure if the website is just sold out and selling what they currently have left. Just wondering.

St. Croix Legend Tournament 7'1'' M Fast.

If you want to spend the coin, my favorite is the G. Loomis BCR803 GLX, the old version if you can find it.

If you can bump it to $300 and want style points as well, look at the Megabass Orochi XX Extreme Misson Type F or Diablo Spec R. If you can do $270-280, wait 'til 4th of July and catch a Dobyns Extreme 703 or 743 on a 20% off sale somewhere.

Quick question...why a medium rod? Any time I have to pull the hook through plastic, I default to MH...but I've fished many Senko's on medium.

What's your reason for the preference?

Thanks

Dobyns DX 743 is the best stick bait rod IMO but it is out of your price range.

The Champion 703 or 733 is in your price range and is also a great rod for stick baits

I bought two crank bait rods. I wanted MM and MHM. That's what I bought. If you don't see something you want on the site call Adam.

He will check the inventory to see if he has what you want. I did that to get the 7' MHM and he had it. I got it in 2 days FedEx on a Saturday. Also sign up for the news Letter and you will get a $25.00 discount coupon.

You can't use it for a super sale item like the Team Lews Rod but you can towards another rod they have that you may want. It takes a day to get the coupon code via email.

The best two Senko rods I own are the Megabass Orochi xx EMTF and the Duckett White Ice 7'1 Medium Heavy. I have tried out so many rods for Senko's that I've lost count because the Senko is my favorite bait. Those are the best two I've found. One is in the $300 range and the other is in the $200 Range.

X2 on the EMTF. Best senko rod hands down.

For wacky rigged I really like my 7' ML St. Croix Eyecon.

The one that's in your hands. Just throw it out there and do something with it. Fishing senkos is like eating Reese's- there just isn't a wrong way.

7' MHF spinning outfit.

:fishing-026:

St Croix LTBS 7'1"MF. I like my LTES 7MF but it is in the $350 range ( found my a new on sale for $250).

St Croix LTBS 6'8"MXF  another great Senko rod

I have a 7' M Abu Garcia Vengeance and that gives me everything I want out if it

I can't imagine one being any better than the Falcon Cara mirco in finesse jig. It appears that TW doesn't have it anymore, but that is one great rod.

Well as you can see from the replies. There is no 'best' only what people think is the best. With that budget it's hard to make a bad choice.

There is no One best Senko rod, UNLESS you consider a Kistler Helium 3 7 foot Light Medium Heavy.  Best rod I have ever used for Senkos and Flukes, just love it.

i have a 683 powell max 3d that im partial to

I'm a Shimono fan and like the 7.2 Cumara Worm/jig MF spinning rod. IMHO a MH rod has too much backbone and will bend light wire hooks on aggressive hooksets and I prefer light wire hooks when rigging a worm Senko or otherwise.

So many choices and I hope you find the right rod for you.

I use a Dobyns DX 703 in tight cover or a DX 744 for more open water.
