Ok, I went back and it was there. It's actually a concrete statue, owners must have put it there to scare people, it worked!

That could do some damage to an outboard prop.

That person who put the concrete statue in the water to scare fishermen away is very clever!

Back in the early 1900's, a resident on Lake George, NY built a big wooden "sea monster" out of a 10-foot long cedar log.  He had it rigged with an anchor and rope system so he could make it surface and submerge.  It was originally used for a practical joke on a fishing rival, but it created such a stir, the guy moved it around to different parts of the lake for more "sightings."

The original is in a museum in Hague, NY and there is a replica at the Lake George museum.  Google "Georgie, Lake George monster" for the whole story.

Tight lines,

Bob

Normally I would have netted or shot it but not with kids in the boat freaking out.

That's a good idea. If you don't know what something is, shoot it. Even if it stays really still for multiple pictures.

Excellent idea! This PC world loves being a victim :cry4:  then making laws that don't work to protect the next ID10T. :Idontknow:  Or sit around and do nothing and be the next victim.  :laugh5:

It's off a Viking ship?

Maybe the knights Templars?

I'm sorry I would of latched on to it. It could be a missing piece to the puzzle who was here before us?

Time to go get it?

Ragnar Lothbrooks sunken vessel.

The Ragnar, king of the Vikings?  I saw that in a movie back in the 1960s.

Yes except I was referencing the recent Vikings show that is on History. Great show.

I say you go get it. Bigbill could be right...

Don't know what it is but it looks large enough that it would make me want to stay out of that water until some one ID's it.

Cool.  Go over there and bump a spinnerbait off of it a couple of times, might have a bass on it :):)

I thought it looked pretty stone faced.

May have been put in with the intention of scaring away any swimmers if their is a dock or a pier close by.

Candid Camera?

Gold treasure near it?

Sometimes you see stuff like this and you just brush it off. Best to just think it's a tree or your mind playing tricks on you. I had an encounter with something huge while I was yaking and a long time ago during a family fishing trip to this same lake a lot of us saw something big rolled up on the surface and made waves before descending. Still scares me but not enough to keep me from fishing.

looks like the lock ness monster
