Hey you guys. I was wondering how you store your plastics? I have been putting them into boxes but I am finding that I need a lot more boxes and it's getting kind of annoying. Any other ideas? I've tried the whole zip lock bag thing and I wasn't a huge fan.

I try to keep them in original bags and I buy extra bags from Do-it molds to store baits that came in variety mixes and bargain buckets. Then I file the bags into Plano 3731 boxes (one big, open compartment), sorted by bait type (Worms, craws, creatures, grubs, etc.).  In these boxes you can file two side-by-side rows of typical 6"-7" wide bags, as long as they aren't too tall. Longer bags up to 9" or so you can file sideways; other differently-sized or shaped bags (such as Rage tail bags with clamshells, which are a bit too tall) I just lay down and stack.

I keep my plastics in the original package. The ones that I'm going to be taking on a fishing excursions go into one of those little duffle bags that I got from renewing my BASS membership, the rest I put into 6 quart plastic shoe boxes. Sometimes I put a shoebox or two into one of the storage compartments in my boat. The shoe boxes are designated with "4-7" worm, finess, creature, craw, and so forth. I have one labeled "Beltzville" which are the ones I bought especally for the local mud puddle.

I have one tackle box with plastics and pre-made c-rigs in plastic zip loc bags(different weights). New plastics are in the original bags. Used plastics are kept in zip lock bags for each bait. I don't mix colors. At home I use those larger green spinnerbait boxes to store each type of plastics. Senkos, swimbaits, lizzards, crawfish, have there own box. The worms are sorted by brand and length in boxes.

The I have larger cardboard boxes that I have a backup stash.

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't drive that much. I buy fishing stuff. I don't believe in shopping during the time I'm fishing non stop 24/7 for months straight. Once I'm in the groove I only fish.

Since I fish near the car I take 5 tackle boxes and 5 rod setups. I take two tackle boxes with me. I can always get something from the car.

Leave them in the bags and put them in worm binders or gallon ziplocks by type for me.

I keep them sealed in their packages in my house.

I use several small worm binders for the baits I use the most and a large worm binders for the ones I might think I might need one day and colors of the ones I use the most. All of it stays in the boat. I even use a worm binder for my spinnerbaits.

I've been using the thin model planos in the 3600 size. One for each bait type. For example holds about 80 senkos. 36-48 Keitechs. 36-48 tubes etc etc

For soft plastics, I store mine by technique in boxes. I'll put a few of my favorite styles in a box and store the rest in ziplocks. For example, I dropshot a few different baits, so I'll get a thin tray and load it with a few colors of each. Those are my go-to baits, and get refilled as necessary. Now I also have ziplock freezer bag one of the big ones also full of dropshot baits. It's comprised of ones I don't use as often and also more packs of the ones in the box. That way if I'm going to a lake and I have my dropshot box, I have my bases covered. If it's a lake I know I'm going to be dropshotting a lot, I'll grab the ziplock bag too. That way I don't end up hauling around more tackle than what I have to for no reason.

Ever since I went to zip locks, I couldn't be happier.

 

I have 5-7 one-gallon zip locks in a backpack.  One has senkos, one has soft swimbaits, another with beavers/creatures, one with jig trailers, one with zman ned worms, one just for Cut-R's, one for finesse......etc.  ....well, maybe I have about 9 one-gallon ziplocks....but it is still far better than anything I had before.
