I'm going to have to agree with BigSkyBasser though its not the technic that I want to reach for, but I would have to agree with what was said I truly believe it would work in almost any situation 365. I remember watching a video the G-man put out and he was talking about a c-rig and he called it the quitter-rig. He said if you see me throwing it then I have given up on everything else, that's kind of the same feeling I get when I reach for the drop shot rod.

If there's one bait that I am confident I could catch atl east a fish anytime throughout the year it's a dropshot. I have caught fish in every season on that bait.

I have the most faith on any lure I am using at a given time.You need to be 100% confident on each and every cast in order fish at your best.

I go to my CC Super Spot in silver/blue or my modified white SK red eye with a willow that replaced a back hook. I have caught some of my pb on these two and will throw them even in conditions where a T rig might be better.

In the greater central Virginia area it is the square bill Sexy Shad crankbait.

 

It all depends on the lure you have the most confidence.

 

For some guys in these parts it is the jig and pig. For others, it is the Shad Rap or spinnerbait.

 

As for plastics, the shaky head is the leader.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, if I could only have one it would be a 6" T-rig straight tail worm. Although day in day out drop shot and fly lined Stik baits are absolutely deadly out this way.

It's been killing them on our winter tourney series. Green pumpkin with 1/8oz tungsten pegged. Tail dipped in chart jj's.

jig and rage craw, swim jig and caffeine shad most of the summer. 4 in senko early in the year.

 

However, I always start with something on top cuz if they're hiring on top, forget every other technique!

As for myself, a 4" finesse worm on a dropshot, a 1/8 Arkie naked w a craw trailer like a small YUM crawbug, or a TrickWorm on a ShakyHead have gotten me out of more than a few jams...but I know it's probably going to be a tough day if I'm reaching for any of these early  

 

It was surprising after adding these up, less than half of the votes were for what I would consider "finesse" baits.

September- April (GA)- 5" Senko T-Rigged, Watermelon/Black Flake

 

April-September (MA)- 4" Senko wacky rigged- Pumpkin/Black Green Flake

Keitech Swing Impact FAT 4.8" soft swim bait in Bluegill Flash, rigged with a 4-0 belly-weighted Gamakatsu Superline Spring Lock swimbait hook (1/16-1/8 oz), fished on 20 lb Seaguar Tatsu fluro on a MH to H rod. Or on 50 lb braid in pads or heavy green stuff.

 

This bait has been sooo totally ridiculous since mid October. I've gone through a couple of hundred dollars worth of these babies since then. So my wife's not happy. But I am. You swim it fast or slow, pause it or not, steady or jerky, whatever. It wiggles and they inhale it. Anywhere there are active, good sized fish.

 

On Lake Okeechobee, in the glades, canals, and local ponds I do get some bites on jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, squarebills, senkos, flukes, worms, frogs, lizards, and creatures -- but currently I catch more bass on this Keitech swimbait than on all the others put together. Also, it casts quite far and you can cover a lot of water pretty fast.

 

I put one under my pillow at night.  Because I am in love with my Keitech Swing Impact FAT. (Wife doesn't like that part either.)

 

Hands Down, Gitzit Tube + 1/8oz Jighead. It's the bait that is responsible for 105 days consistently catching bass this year!

Gizits are great . I went fishing once this summer and accidentally left my soft plastics at home . I searched through all my gear and found a pack of black Gizits . I Texas rigged them and had a fine  day  of catching bass ..

I have thrown the Ned rig on some of my toughest days these last 3-4 months and still have yet to get skunked on it.

If I had to pick just one, it'd be a 1/2 oz jig. I can swim it, pitch it, or drag it.  I can fish it in 1 ft down to 35 ft of water. But luckily I don't have to pick just one. My best baits this year was

3. Bama rig

4. Jig
