Favorite Chatterbait brand and color?

Featured Replies

I mostly throw green pumpkin with a swimming senko trailer. 3/8.

Also what conditions do you use certain colors in?

thanks

I fish several: ZMan Project Z, Rage Blade, Siebert Outdoors Fogy and BlueBasser86 Wobble Head. White with a white Rage Structure Bug trailer has been my most productive. Second is a bluegill pattern with a Rage Tail ShellCracker (Hard Candy) trailer.

I really don't have one brand that I use above all, maybe I should. My first choice for a trailer tho is a headless RI Skinny Dipper or Rage Menace.

I make my own. 3/8's is my go to size. I K.I.S.S. I make two different ones:

Black Nickle blade, green pumpkin head, bluegill colored skirt, with a green pumpkin single tailed grub trailer for sunny days

Silver blade, black head, black and blue skirt and black/blue pit boss trailer on cloudy days

A chatterbait for me is a stained water to dirty water deal, I will use a swim jig in clear water.

I plan on going wild and spicing it up next by trying a gold blade LOL.

Z Man in 3/8 oz white/chart. skirt, white trailer, silver blade. Caught 5 on this combo today.

I fish the zman chaterbait. What trailers should i use, the one that it comes with or something else like a swim bait?

Phenix or Bobby D's "grinder" in white, blk/blue, or green pumpkin with a swimming senko....

These are the best answers.

Zman 3/8 black and blue with black and blue rage tail menace. I own a bunch of other colors but black and blue is pretty much all I throw.

None. Have a bunch and can't catch a fish on them.

My favorite is the ones I make. They're all my favorite colors, especially when they're catching fish.

In bluegill lakes, I fish this one.

or this one

Stained to dirty water I like this one,

or black and blue

Really muddy water I go for one of these.

Just wait until you fish them! ;)

The only two I've tried are Z-man and Revenge.  White, black/blue and bluegill colors.

If you can find them I like the older D&M Piranha Swim Jigs.  Of the current ones out there the Strike King Rage Blades are nice, and if you're looking for a slow/bouncing presentation the Picasso Shock Blades are great.  Shock blades are a bit finicky as I think they're the best choice when you want to fish slow, but if you fish them too fast they tend to roll/spin.  Color is whatever works at your local lake based on forage/conditions.  I've had the most success/confidence with sexy shad and bluegill patterns.
