Academy is having a fishing sale and it includes a surprisingly good selection of rods and reels.  They have Tatula SVs for $160.  Unfortunately for me they don't have any lefties.  Good sale on Dobyns rods too.

Thank you for this! I decide on an SLX MGL 70 this morning to try out for my new senko rod and was about to order through ALF. Decided to check here first and you saved me a few bucks.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

I like my SLX MGL 70.

Midway has some good Jackall deals this week.

Just found a bunch of Lucky Craft lures at Ollie's, don't know if all locations carry the same stuff... $6.99 a piece. That's $3.00 off regular price. They had a whole big box of them. Cranks, jerkbaits and top water. Also, had closeout Zoom baits in discontinued colors for $2.99.

Don't think it was fully articulated on here but Academy has 20% off rods and reels until sunday. Shimano and Daiwa included!

unfortunately due to sales tax it’s only 13% here

since yesterday.

Theyve pulled them from website. Call to check for stock. I just did and can confirm 20% off Shimano and Daiwa and stock not showing on website.

Why would they do this?

Probably trying to drive foot traffic to stores? I have no clue ... all I know is I'll be picking up a Curado and Spheros in a bit here.

So they aren’t/won’t sell the Shimano reels to you if you call?

When I called they let me know they had them in stock. I went in person to purchase. Had to go to two stores and I may go back for an SLX MGL. Thanks to the lack of advertising there's a surprising amount of inventory.

Years ago, when I worked at Academy, shimano wouldn't let them advertise sales. Shimano stuff would go on sale from time to time, but if you didn't happen to stop in (or know an employee who would give you a call) you would never know it. I'm guessing that stuff (shimano) being pulled from the website has something to do with a similar policy.

Yeah something was off ... they even had a hard time ringing it up yesterday

That's a heck of a deal!!! For one, those rods are really hard to come by (usually sold out everywhere) and secondly you're saving $70. Back Bait Monkey, back...lol.

The warranty is worth $70 to me

I am considering pulling the trigger here. Anyone have experience ordering from this place?

Edit - Just saw this is glass so I am out. I am looking for a 6'10" M for a jerkbait rod.

I also worked at Academy and it was insinuated to me that it wasn’t shimano or any other company keeping from advertising sales.  Academy was pushing their own brand. When I worked there they were doing all their Tournaments Choice rods that were “ripoffs” of other brands using blanks and such acquired from these well-known manufacturers. We were heavily encouraged to push the TC stuff. It was magically always “on sale.” But nothing else was advertised. You just got lucky.

The place is legit but most rods purchased from there are factory seconds - no warranty

MidwayUSA has the new Simms ProDry jacket (one color) for 45% off right now.  That's $330!

Thanks to SmugOne for the alert.

I bought my first Expride a month ago.  Was impressed enough to jump on the Sierra deal.  I think a lot of people did, they sold out in a couple of days.  It was on closeout and definitely not a second.

Rod arrived a couple days ago.  Can't wait to use it.  I think it's going to crush smallies using squarebills on the Columbia.  Headed out when the wind calms down on Tuesday.

No problem at all! Glad you were able to get one as well!

I got mine yesterday.  In perfect condition and was actually packaged very well.  Was able to get out with it in the evening and was very impressed with the action.

Sierra just got a bunch of Daiwa in.  They have a left handed steeze and a couple of lefty zillions.  Also have quite a few BLX rods for $279.99. The BLXs are tempting me so hopefully you all can buy them up quick.

Enjoy...
