I have a bad back and cannot stand for any length of time. I sit to fish on the front deck of my boat. What top water baits do you recommend that can be fished effectively from a sitting position? I assume I cannot "walk the dog" effectively while sitting but honestly... I've never tried. What do you recommend? 

I walk the dog while sitting in a kayak by using a side motion rather than a downward motion. It's not hard as long as you have some room off to the side.

I have 3 herniated disc, torn ligaments, & sciatic nerve damage in my lower back. I'm constantly moving from sitting to standing & back to sitting.

There is not a technique that I execute from the sitting position with minor adjustments!

Walking the dog while sitting is no problem, like @MIbassyaker said, I fish out of a kayak and have always been able to throw a spook. May take some practice but it will be second nature after a while!

x2 on this ... I do most of my fishing from a kayak and there isn't a topwater that I can't use from the seated position.  It's just your method of working which changes.  Dawg baits are my favorite!

You can fish any type of topwater lure while sitting down,I do it all the time on long fishing trips.

I can only add that I too have to sit as much or more than I stand and I also fish all my topwaters both standing and sitting.

Ribbit frogs. The Livetarget sunfish and mouse in small size are both really easy to walk even while siting. Always use a sideways rod action with the line a little more taunt and at more so a 90° angle with the line.

i have yet to find a topwater bait i cannot work properly sitting down.  That goes for being pretty close to the water in a kayak too.

Use a short pistol grip rod to walk the dog .Its much much easier . Charlie Campbell uses a 5.5 foot rod .

I throw Skitterpop, Buzzbait and various brands of poppers and hula poppers while sitting in my kayak. really dont move my upoper body to much, mostly arms and wrist. Well at least until I hook into a bass.

Lots of todays new walking baits are getting more user friendly. Specifically, the terminator walking frog and a lucky craft sammy are two of the easiest baits to walk I've ever used and are for the most part idiot proof.

Pistol grips not only make it easier but IMO you have a lot more control over topwaters that require lots of movement

When you have back pain or just getting older standing on one leg and running the trolling motor with the other while balancing is difficult. Sitting helps somewhat as long as you don't twist your upper torso, so working some lures like walk the dog can be tiring and not neccesary most of the time. Lures that have good action on a straight retreive or stop and go are easy to use and effective.

I fish exclusively out of a kayak when I am on the water and while I can stand in the yak, I sit and fish quite a bit.  I have the Live Target mouse (the smaller version) and I cannot believe how easy it is to walk with just a little practice.  From the side, just using small twitches of the rod, will get this lure going and keep it going.   

I fish from a kayak. I use all types. You just sit down and adjust.

Whopper plopper would probably be the easiest, but honestly I fish top waters from my kayak all the time, especially frogs, with no issues.
