Daiwa Tatula rods or Daiwa Tatula XT casting rods. For fluorocarbon I would go with either 12 or 15lbs  test depending on the cover you are fishing.

depends on the length you wanna use . My 7`3 is a med heavy and my 7`5 is a heavy.

I second the Tatula, either 7'1mh or 7'2h. 15 or 17lb flouro.

Take a good look at a Dobyns Fury FR703C which is a great rod. Its a 7 foot mh 1/4 to 3/4  or a FR733C which is a 7'3" MH 1/4 to 3/4 version.

If going with the Dobyns I suggest looking at the 4 power rods. A 734 would make a nice jig rod.

Another vote for the tatula (I like the 7' 2" HF for jigs). They can be had on sale for around 100. I'd say 12-20lb fluoro depending how heavy the cover is you are fishing. If you do go with 17 or 20lb make sure to get a quality fluoro that has decent line manageability so you aren't fishing with a slinky.

FR734C with 15 LB.  Extremely versatile rod.

Definitely the 734 if you are throwing bigger jigs on deep ledges type stuff. The 733 is the typical mh 1/4 to 3/4. Definitely my preference for lighter jigs and plastics. Either way if you want to put one in your hand, we have a dealer that stocks them here in Hunt Valley MD. They are located off I 83 about 30 minutes below Route 30 (at York PA).  Anglers Express carries Dobyns, Powell, Cashion, Shimano, Duckett ,Irod and some others I forgot.  If you choose to walk in there, I doubt you can walk out without finding something that will work for you.  Also the Dobyns Fury series runs $110.  So it is in your price range.The Irod Genesis II rods are really nice too, but they run a little more at $149.   I would consider a IRG 704C or the IRG744C. 

For open water I would use a MHF or MHXF.  For punching I would use a HXF.

Of the rods mentioned, I have only used the original Tatula.  Very nice rods for the money.  On sale for $110 at Sportsman's Outfitters.

As others have said the Daiwa Tatula line is great and can be bought for $100.  The Powell Inferno line is also a good rod line after they changed the line guides they are pretty great. Good luck.

Take a look at the St. Croix Mojo Bass worm-n-jig rod. It's only slightly over your $100 mark, but worth a look. I have experience with the 6'8" MH/F version and I use 12 lb fluoro. It's a nice well balanced rod with plenty of sensitivity. It's got a nice soft tip too which really helps with casting, as well as feeling out those light biters.

How far are you from Reading PA? It looks like about 1 1.2 to 2 hours? Is that to far away to meet up and cast a few rods and reels?

Thanks for the offer to meet with me. Unfortunately i am not yet 16, so I don't have a license. My parents would need to drive me. Right now I do not have the time. Thanks for the offer, maybe next spring I will be able.

The Tatula CT has a few less bearing ( four bushings instead of bearings in the reel handle knobs.) which amounts to nothing. The CT is available in a left handed 6.3 and 7.3 to 1 for $129 retail. I know of only one place offering them for $100 shipped to your door.  My 2nd CT arrived yesterday, it is a 6.3-1 lefty. That makes 7 Daiwas in the arsenal.

Why would you need a soft tip for jigs?In most cases you want the opposite.

I have the same rod and it's easily one of the best in the price range.
