What if your favorite 30 lb braid for throwing Topwater (Sammy's, Gunfish, etc) on a baitcaster?

I use 20 and 30 depending on the size of the bait.

Sufix 832

I use 832 on my jig and worm setups. I assumed that this braid sinks more than others (which I want for that technique). Does it sink when fishing Topwater?

I prefer Daiwa braid either Samurai or the J braid x8

I've used 30-lb braid made by Power Pro, Sufix 832, Berkley Trilene, Seaguar Smackdown~

but I'll be darned if I ever noticed any brand-related difference in casting distance.

Frankly, I'm not interested in greater casting distance, then I'd need a broomstick to set the hook

Not saying these are the best but, I've been happy using Power Pro or P-Line.

The 547 yards threw me until I converted it to meters...

 

I've used and like PowerPro (several different types), Suffix 832, and Seguar Smackdown.

 

I was less happy with Sipder Wire, but that was years ago and I should probably try it again. 

 

I've tried Gliss and while my initial impressions were good it worked OK for a season on a spinning rod...I feel like braid should last longer than that without looking all beat up to the point where I didn't have confidence in it.  That was the 24 lb. product, I'm trying the 40lb. now.

I have no experience with 832, but I assume it would sink, which is not what you want for surface.  I have experience with Flouro leaders on Power Pro, and it doesn't work well for surface.  It sinks and  screws up the action of lures like Pop-R's, which get pulled downward by the leader which has sunk during the pauses.  The braids which have not been designed to sink should work fine with either no leader or a mono leader.

From what I've seen there isn't a braid that sinks.  Most if not all float and if you are using it for topwater you shouldn't need a leader of any kind.  Most topwater is a reaction strike and they aren't looking at the line, esp since the line is typically above the water except where it attaches to the lure.  I don't use a leader at all when fishing braid and top water and haven't seen any reduction in bites.

The price is excellent for starters. I put it on my reels I use for guide trips, so it allows me to fill all those reels for a great price. It handles a lot like original PP to me, except it seems to cast further and stays together better than I remember regular PP. It's a 4 carrier braid, which cuts through grass the best, and a lot of the lakes I fish I'll be fishing either in water willows, or some other variation of emergent vegetation that I need my line to be able to cut through. 

Never been able to tell the difference in casting braid with a broomstick.  The rod has more to do with it......that said, I have one set up with smackdowwn and love it.....torque is also awesome as it is usually thinner.

I used to use power pro, but always 40lb and up. The lighter stuff dug in a lot no matter what brand I tried.

Last 2 reels I have spooled up with Power Pro MaxCuatro and I love it. It's a fantastic line. The 40lb is the diameter of 30lb regular power pro and it does not dig in. Line is strong and does everything I need it to do.
