Made it to Workout Day 5 some how.

The rows, press & curls were OK

but the core work was definitively a little brutal.

Taking two days off.

Be back in the home gym on the 17th.

My abs look remarkably similar, but strangely they wanted some winter insulation about 15 years ago and I haven't seen them since.

I'll be in that good of shape when Colonel Sanders starts selling free weights.   Way to go AJay.

  • You are a great example for us all Ajay. "The longer we wait the harder it gets.  The first step is the hardest." I agree with you 100%   My son says he has abs and you Dad have flabs.

After enjoying a couple of much needed off days,

I was back in the home gym for Workout Day 1.

While I actually like the Inverted Cable Rows,

starting off with a Leg Press always gets my attention.

Workout Day 2 for this one.

Completed 3 working sets of each of the 4 scheduled movements.

Compared to my previous effort, I was able to pump up the resistance a bit.

Either way, I always strive to have the last rep be as clean as the first.

Going to be passing on today's training.

Had a bit of a medical thing late yesterday and a rest day afterwards is propably a better plan.

Expect to be back at it tomorrow.

While still working a bit to get myself right,

decided to complete Workout Day 3.

It was a little on the brutal side but still glad I did it (sort of).

Either way, I need a serious attitude adjustment and sooner rather than later.

Because I'm about half a stride from going Postal.

Workout Day 4 today.

And right off the bat, I felt much more like myself for this one.

Mentally, Physically, Spiritually & Emotionally.

Makes all the difference in the world, at least for me.

Either way, I completed 3 working sets of the 4 movements scheduled.

And then, we ate.

After an off day, followed by Yard Work Day and then a full fishing day,

I was finally back in the home gym for Workout Day 1.

As an OG, taking too many off days in a row, makes getting back in the training groove

a little rugged.  Felt that way for this one.

Still pushed myself through it but I was surely feeling every repetition.

Started June off with Workout Day 2.

Felt a little more in tune with this one as compared to previous training session.

Always a good thing.

Additionally, this is video 771 that I've added to this playlist.

Kind of crazy, especially for an Old Guy.

Someday I hope to get in shape.

Workout Day 3 turned out to be a late afternoon affair.

Seems during my pre-workout warm-up (not shown here)

I'm routinely making a full anatomy assessment.

Knees, neck, elbows, ankles, hips, shoulders, forearms, wrists and of course upper and lower back. Very happy to report everything felt pretty good before, during and especially after this one. Hope that continues. #borninfiftynine

The 2nd exercise for my Workout Day 4 is a simple Hamstring/Leg Curl.

Still requires me to utilized strict form and a good deal of mental focus.

Usually sets me up for a decent training session.

This one felt that way.

After a couple of days off and a day on the water, I hammered out Workout Day 5.

In my mind, this life style might not be totally about adding years to my life

but more like adding life to my years.

Workout Day 1.

Felt like I really needed to grind pretty hard to keep the intensity

where it needed to be during this one.

Either way, Old Guy workouts are rarely easy.

After an off day and a day on the water, I was looking forward to this one.

Completed 4 working sets of the 4 scheduled movements.  Showing that here.

This diary of a madman continues.

After my scheduled off day and another excellent day on the water,

I was back in the home gym for Workout Day 3.

Started out with a Rack Pull which strengthens and conditions most all of the posterior chain.

I consider it one of the most functional movements in my entire routine.

Workout Day 4.

I was pretty sore after Day 3, so I didn't push this one too far.

Muscle soreness is a part of my everyday life and has been for a long time.

Doesn't mean I like it.

Getting ready to make it happen again this morning.

As I was hitting the rain locker, I was looking back

and thinking about this entire journey.

What a ride.

And if 65 yr old me, could go back and tell 25 year old me just 3 things about it,

things that really matter and were helpful in the long run, especially after retirement,

This is what I'd say:

1). Build a Home Gym; single best investment in myself I've ever made.

When you're someone's Grandfather, it's hard enough just to get into the gym.

Any travel added on top certainly adds to that.

2). Always have a clear objective; meaning know why am I training?

Being honest, change it when needed (and it will change so be ready)

and ensure my lifestyle supports the end game.

  Commitment & dedication are mandatory.

3). Proper Nutrition, Hydration, Sleep, Recovery & Training ALL play equal roles in the big picture. They all require due diligence and All support each other.

Also, ANY Alcohol is a deal breaker.

Might mot be not be all about adding years to my life.

But for me it is about adding Life to my years.

Workout Day 5 on this stormy hot & humid Saturday.

This one went well and I'm feeling pretty good.

Still, I might take an extra day off before the next one.

We'll need to see how the yard work effects my recovery.

Workout Day 2.

Starting off with an elevated step back lunge

always sets the tone and gets me into the training right away.

Workout Day 3 ~ I was ready, willing & able.

All good things in this particular case.

I'm betting my bone density is pretty decent at this point.

Finished off the month with Workout Day 4.

Seems a couple of shots of Old Number 7 in my pre-workout drink, is very relaxing.

You should try it.
