Working to Stay Lean ~

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I know this isn't a general weight loss thread so forgive me.  I have lost 7 pounds since February.  I feel leaner and sleep better and have more endurance through out the day too.

It's mostly due to playing in a weekly mens ice hockey league for a few months.  I pushed my body to the limits in each session.

It may have also been a by-product of some stress too.  I don't eat as much when I'm stressed out.

My abs look remarkably similar, but strangely they wanted some winter insulation about 15 years ago and I haven't seen them since.

I'll be in that good of shape when Colonel Sanders starts selling free weights.   Way to go AJay.

  • You are a great example for us all Ajay. "The longer we wait the harder it gets.  The first step is the hardest." I agree with you 100%   My son says he has abs and you Dad have flabs.

That's excellent.

Always nice to hear good news health wise.

Exercise rarely can overcome an indulgent diet.

But get both on track,

there seems to be noticeable benefits.

And the longer we can keep it going, the longer the benefits seem to last.

Congrats.

Workout Day 5 for this one.

Felt pretty good so I put in the work.

I'll be taking at least two off days and then coming back

with a new/different workout schedule.

More to follow.

Parties over and this guy will be back in the home gym later this morning.

Changed the training routine up a bit mostly to allow bit more recovery between training days.

Same basic exercises/movements as most previous versions,

just modified when and the sequence I perform them in.

Haven't run this one for a while and I may end up tweaking it a bit here and there,

but I gotta start somewhere.

Going with a  Legs - Push - Pull Double Split routine.

This is what it looks like.

Still be taking an off day between each of these.

Push 1 workout today.

Went OK.

My legs are still a little sore from Sunday's training.

Decent chance that after this one, my chest, shoulders & triceps will be as well.

Part of the deal.

Completed the Pull 1 workout today.

It was a little on the brutal side.

Extensive extra curricular activities on my off days

along with a bit of a calorie reduction

is starting to add up and take a toll on the OG.

I'll need to address this sooner rather than later.

Completed Leg 2 workout today.

Some of these movements might not be consider conventional.

However, their level of effectiveness keeps this OG coming back for more.

Pull 2 workout today.

Started this one off with my version of the Landmine Row.

I prefer the V-bar grip as it emphasizes a comfortable neutral hand position

while targeting multiple muscles in the back.

After an extra off day, I was back in the home gym for another Legs 1 workout.

Sometimes the hardest part of this at 65 (almost 66) is just getting down there.

After that I just put my head down and do the work.

how do you know if a person works out?

Several physical and behavioral clues can indicate that someone works out regularly. These include a toned or muscular physique, increased energy levels, and a tendency to wear athletic clothing.  Additionally, individuals who work out often might exhibit good posture, a positive attitude, and an active lifestyle, such as walking rather than sitting whenever possible.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Physical Signs:

Toned or Muscular Physique:

Visible muscle definition, a lean build, and a lack of excess body fat are common indicators.

Good Posture:

People who work out regularly tend to have better posture, standing upright and with a confident bearing.

Energy Levels:

Increased energy, vitality, and a general sense of well-being are often associated with regular exercise.

Activewear and Gym Bag:

The presence of athletic clothing and/or a gym bag can be a strong visual cue.

Behavioral and Lifestyle Clues:

Active Lifestyle:

Someone who works out often may be seen walking more, taking the stairs, or generally being more active throughout the day.

Positive Attitude and Confidence:

Regular exercise can boost mood and self-esteem, leading to a more positive and confident demeanor.

Social Media Activity:

Some individuals may share their fitness routines or achievements on social media.

Healthy Diet:

A balanced diet, often including home-cooked meals, is often linked with an active lifestyle.

Good Sleep Habits:

Regular physical activity can improve sleep quality.

Low Resting Heart Rate:

A lower resting heart rate is often associated with cardiovascular fitness, a common outcome of regular exercise.

Quick Recovery Time:

Being able to recover quickly from workouts is another sign of good physical condition.

Ability to Perform Physical Tasks Easily:

Someone who works out regularly will likely be able to perform basic physical tasks, like walking up stairs or running short distances, without feeling overly fatigued.

It's important to remember that these are just indicators, and not everyone who works out will exhibit all of these signs. Some people may be naturally athletic or have different body types, and others might prefer low-impact workouts that don't necessarily result in significant muscle growth.

Legs 2 workout today.

Going into this one after an extra day off,

some decent chow & plenty of sleep,

I felt properly prepared.

Still felt quite stimulating.

Seems about right.

Some post workout days seem to be accompanied by

an over the top level of muscles soreness.

Today is one of those days.

Can make a man question his life choices at times.
