leaf blower no no's

Featured Replies

So I am outside with the leaf blower cleaning the last of this years leaves out from around the house, and my wife comes out side and says " I just ran some stuff thru the clothes dryer that had a lot of lint. I cleaned the trap but was wondering, since you have the leaf blower out maybe you could use it to give the vent a good cleaning." So I go inside but can't get the leaf blower at a good angle. My wife says " could you try it from the outside?" I said " sure, just make sure the door on the dryer is closed" So I go out side to the vent, My wife gives me the thumbs up from the window, and I let her rip. A few seconds later I hear a pounding on the window, I look up and my wife is looking real mad and signaling me to come inside. She is standing there in a cloud of fine lint. Apparently when I turned the leaf blower on it blew the dryer door open as she was standing in front of it. I guess Mistake # one was using the leaf blower. I'm thinking mistake # two was laughing, and I'm pretty sure mistake # three was offering to use the leaf blower to get all the lint out of the house. I'd love to say I made this up but sadly it's all true.

Lesson learned.

Listen, they complain when you do nothing and when you do something they still complain. It was a no-win situation. I got your back on this one @jbmaine. You were just the one operating the equipment. She was the supervisor. In every union job I ever worked she would be the one getting written up. And the thing about laughing, well, nobody should be punished for having a good sense of humor. :D

Hopefully your dryer doesn't catch on fire now that it's full of all the lint that was in your lint tube.

Was just thinking about one of my first jobs many many years ago for a nursery.  Boss told me to take down some pipes and pumps over some beds.  Was having some trouble .... he told me to go to the pump end and start there.  Well...(not a good idea) pipe broke in pump....got fired....(did go duck hunting right after that though...so not to bad a day)

Memories

I'm with ya man!  She can be mad but I'd have laughed too!

So, offering to clean her car out with it probably won't fly?

Men and power tools?  What'd she expect?   My wife was griping about sweeping the wood floors so I went out and got the gas leafblower and told her to hold the door open.  30 seconds and the floor was clean:lol:  Never mind the 2 cycle smell.  She wasn't happy either.

Sometimes you just can't win. :(

You sound like Tim the tool man Taylor, more power :thumbsup3:

We clean the dryer pipe every year, the dryer too. The dryer can be a treasure trove of coins... one year we hit $11.
