Paddle tail swimbait help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Im looking for paddle tail swim baits in the 4" range for trailers for swim jigs and chatterbaits.  I would like to get keitechs but they are awfully expensive so I am looking for a cheaper alternative.  What are your guys suggestions to get in the cheaper price range?

thanks!

LEW

Eco Pro Tungsten Swing shad. They are about half the cost of the keitech's and IMO, are just as good, if not better in the warmer months (they have a slightly wider kick, but possibly not as soft so in cold water keitech still gets the nod for me). They also don't have as good of a color selection or size selection as the keitech's but I'm using a green pumpkin trailer for my swimjigs (bluegill imitation) like 90% of the time so for me it isn't an issue. They have 3.8 and 4.8.

Good. The Gambler line is very popular in Florida for bass.

My chatterbait trailer most of the time will be Zman paddlerZ and diezel. I found that Zman Elaztech stuff is pretty soft even with slow crawl the tail still moving. It will not create a lot of movement as keitech but the vibration from blade alone should get enough attention from bass. I can let the whole thing sit and tail still moving with little current (caught a bass while helping my friend un-snag his lure).

I also use different paddle tail like, keitech knock off, zoom fluke, gambler EZ and 5" grub.

They have more patterns then I have fingers and toes! That's like almost  over 17!

The Rage Swimmer won the Classic this year. Why would you throw any other paddletail?

Haven't tried them but heard good things about Damiki Armor Shad Paddle Tails and on TW they are only $6 for a 10 pack. Could be worth a shot. Also I like the more natural color selection. If you fish clear water they might be what you are looking for.

The BPS Speed Shad makes a good trailer. Get a bait with a wire keeper on it and the trailer will last much longer.

I buy my keitech style swimbaits in bulk from custom bait makers. Makes the price per bait about half of what it is for a Keitech, they're more durable, and they still have good action.
