Spinnerbait Help

Featured Replies

okay guys I've been on a great spinner bait bite this year but with throwing them so much I have been losing a lot, so I need to restock, does anyone have any recommendations as far as what baits to buy? I have been looking at the revenge double willows as well as booyah vibra wire and some war eagles as well. what do you guys throw in that 1/2oz and up range of spinner baits? feel free to include colours as well

Side Note: do you prefer to throw spinner baits with or without a trailer?

I would get some more of whatever ones you've been doing great with. Trailer yes and no depending on where and how.

I throw a lot of Stanley's, Booyahs, SKs, Mann's, Humdingers, and a few others, but I find that the weight/size and blade combinations is really the key. I seldom fish spinnerbaits stock, I usually change out blades and skirts. I almost never not have a spinnerbait tied on.

thanks i will read through that as well

Northlake tackle reed runner. With a grass pig swimbait trailer.

I was and still like the River2Sea Bling. However I was fortunate enough to try the new Genesis Spinnerbait by Omega. I believe it releases in Aug. And that will start taking more room up in my tackle. It has a bend but do break Ti wire that you can literally bend the wire into whatever profile you'd like and then bend it back with no memory. It also has a quick release clasp to make changing your blades even while on the water without taking the entire bait apart.

War Eagle, no trailer.

Sent you a PM.

I like Stanley and Hart spinnerbaits and the only time I use a trailer is in the pre-spawn to slow the bait down, but keep it in the strike zone.  I have, on occasion, used one without a skirt and added a swimbait.

War Eagles are mostly what I use, although I got a couple Stanley's this spring and have liked them a lot. I usually throw a paddle tail on the back of mine. It gives it a bit bigger profile and I can fish it a bit slower at the same depth than without a trailer. Only time I don't use a trailer now is if I am fishing them FAST and am really just trying to get fish to react to the fast flash of the blades going by.

I know Lunkerhunt gets slammed in these forums from time to time but they’ve produced well for me and they are cheap which appeals to my frugal side.

I like War Eagle spinnerbaits. The Screaming Eagle is very good. I don't use a trailer. Colors are mouse, blue herring shad, and spot remover.

I didn't even think you could see that word on this site.

My favorite is a War Eagle, 3/8 oz., double gold willow leaf, gold shiner color. It works in places that have no gold baitfish. Ad ALWAYS with the trailer hook. I catch a bunch of fish by the trailer that I wouldn't have even known were striking short otherwise. Just imagine you caught your PB by the trailer. Would that matter to you?

If you got toothy, snake-like critters in your water (and I know you do) you should invest in some Terminators. All my War Eagles, Stanley Wedges, and BooYahs are broken but the Terminators are still going strong and running straight. Its worth the $10 bucks. Just use braid with them. And I always use a trailer. Usually a Kalin's 5 inch single tail grub in smoke salt & pepper or clear salt & pepper.

I expanded my spinnerbait arsenal to around 200 units and ...... I'm still fishing with the same 4 I've always catch fish.

This is the only one that holds up to the voracious pike around here.  They cost more than other spinner baits but they have a lot more durability.

I wanna live where u live. All the lakes around here are infested with pickerel. I routinely catch more pickerel than bass. Any lure that moves is fair game to those snot rockets.

First I gotta clear up that customs problem I had a few years back. I didn't know it was illegal to hide a llama in a Yugo and sneak it across the border. :D Stupid customs laws...right?
