I live in the Indianapolis area and I fished a tournament at the White River and DNR enforces a slot limit. The slot limit entails that you can only keep 2 fish over 15 inches and 3 fish under 13 inches. Anything between 13 and 15 inches can not be kept. Are there any other lakes or rivers around the country that have weird limits? Just curious....... 

Most waters that have slot limits  are overpopulated with small fish. They want you to keep the smaller fish.

Some states allow tournament fishermen to weigh in a limit of fish that are over the state minimum length limit, on lakes with special regulations. they do have to be released after weigh in.

 Most of the small conservation lakes have a slot limit here . They only work if angler take advantage of  them .  The Conservation dept begs anglers to keep fish  but when agents   measure them , they do everything in their power to stretch small fish into the slot and shrink   fish that are over  . 

I wish more lakes around here had slot limits like that. Most allow anglers to keep 5 fish in any combination under 13" or over 18", so if a lucky angler goes to a lake that really needs small fish removed, but they catch 5 fish over 18", they can keep all those big ones that the lake really needs to keep in it. It really needs to be adjusted to only allow anglers to keep 1 or 2 "overs" depending on the lake. 

We have 3-4 lakes that Use a slot limit for smallmouth in summer, and also all flowing rivers in TN, with a couple exceptions, have a PLR (protected length range) or 13-17 inches for smallmouth, with only one fish in your creel allowed to be an “over.” Most folks don’t seem to keep smallmouth though so it really only effects the tournament anglers. They successfully lobbied to get the slot limit removed from the french broad river below Douglas dam and replaced with the standard 5 fish 18” minimum length limit

Black Hills Lake Seneca is 5 fish limit; 4 under 11", and 1 over 15".

I guess CA don't have slot limit, State regulation is >12" 5 bass but most of the Lake regulation is 15" 2-5 bass.

That's a good slot right there. Can think of a lot of places near me that could benefit from that

Lake Oroville in Ca had a slot limit for a while. You could keep fish under 12" and fish over !5". The idea was to get rid of all the smaller fish so the bigger fish could grow. After a few years they did a study and found there were enough bigger fish in the lake that they took the slot limit off. Now the lake has a ton of small fish again. Catch and release is a good thing but IMHO, it is overdone, resulting in lakes with way too many small fish. Case in point is Lake Shasta. In the spring you can catch 15-20 fish before you catch one that is 12", which is the minimum size in Ca. It's easy to have 75-100 fish days in the spring without getting a limit of legal fish. My suggestion to get rid of the small fish is to have no limit on fish under 12". Have it in place for 3-4 years to see what effect it has on the bass population.
