I have used all of the following types of lures in heavy weeds and mats with some success and no success.  I may be using the wrong lure for the conditions at that time.  What's your thoughts on how and when is the best of these to use:

1. Plastic solid body toads

2. Buzz/vibe/cut-tail worms

3. Plastic swim baits

4. Hollow body frogs

5. Plastic craw

6. Weedless spoon and trailer

Man I just wish I had vegetation to throw to!!

Weedless noisy lure....buzz bait and swim jig with toad trailer.

Weedless spoons and frogs are quite.

Norman Weed Walker .I have never used it but that is how it was designed to be used .

The frog is my favorite lure around a mat of lilies. There aren't any other types of mats anywhere I fish. I don't start out throwing it but as I come by some lilies, I'll take a couple casts with it. If I see a baitfish flee or a bass chasing something there, I'll cast and make it plop down noticeably. Those aren't fish you'll spook.

I really like the Rage Tail Shad. A lot of noise, splash & totally weedless.

Buzzbait comes to mind but I am not sure what your weeds looks like? Otherwise I can swim a Zoom horney toad through the woods without getting hung up.

If you want noisy and weedless, this is your bait. Stringy grass, algae, doesn't matter it will come through and not clog. It's a heavy bait too so it's really easy to cast on heavy casting gear and braid with just a hook and the bait.

The Teckel Sprinker Frog is what I use when I want to make a continuous splash around the weeds.

How do you retrieve this? I’ve done both reel it in like a buzz bait and walked the dog with one.

I had some of those once and fish ate the heck out of them and I guess too much time went by and I forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder. I even caught several out in open deep clear water with them. Buzzbait is my favorite but it’s useless in the cheese mats

I should add, if your grass is water willow, then buzz bait is the ticket . It will pull right through it
