What are some good compact flipping jigs? Not necessarily light wire, finesse jigs but something with a smaller profile. I bank fish a lot and I'm thinking that I could coax more bites with a smaller profile jig.

Strike King Bitsy Bug is worth looking at. They are cheap and I've caught a lot of fish on them over the years.

Okay, I was under the impression that there was a difference between regular jigs and compact jigs. Is "compact jig" just buzz phrase for marketing?

A jig is a head, a hook and a skirt. If you aren't looking for a smaller, lighter hook all that's left is the head and the skirt. A jighead is a jighead so trimming the skirt down to whatever size you want it to be is really what makes a compact jig. That and a smaller trailer.

Gotcha. Just been having trouble finding something in a 1/4oz size that has a full skirt and heavier wire hook. Looking to pair with the trd craws from z-man.

Missile makes some smaller jigs. Over the winter I picked a few up at DICK’s. The size caught my eye because I don’t really throw huge baits. I have heavy vegetation but nothing like some of you guys have.

I have 1 or 2 of those flourocarbon ones. I'll see how the spring keeper works with the craws. That elaztech can be a pain with spring keepers.

Missile baits mini flip jig is more compact. There aren't a lot and that is why I make my own. I make a 1/4oz Arky style and a Brush jig with a heavy wire 2/0 hooks to keep them more compact.

These are fantastic with a pacachunk

I like the War Eagle Heavy Finesse jig and the Santone Texas Finesse jig. They seem very similar and both come in 2 packs.  The Santone jig is available as light as 3/16 oz. 

 

Molix makes a quality jig in a smaller profile but don't think they have as stout of a hook as the first 2 I mentioned though.

I know something about jigs and the Arkie head is compact when combined with a shorter shank heavy wire hook known as flipping jigs.

How you trim the skirt and what is used for a trailer all combine to make a jig more compact.

I agree SK FC Hack Attack is compact with a standard hook and  bullet (grass)  head to shorten the overall length but also uses a standard wire hook, unusual for a flipping jig and surprised the hook appeals to Catt, I like it.

That arkie style jig you make is the exact description of what I'm looking for.

Standard wire hook is not to be confused with a thin wire hook.
