That’s the worst conditions we get where I live, much rather have it snow than very cold rain. We’ve only had one real blizzard in my life (if 2 feet counts as one) and I’m sure there’s worse things up north but drenched and 31 degrees is a bad place to be

Cold Rain Sux ~ Jacks up everything -

Snow's an insulator at times.

Not that I'm running around in a jock strap & a sailors cap, but it's still better can cold rain.

  • This pic is actually from the first morning of the storm.    It's Lynn's crew on the way out the inlet in Scituate, MA. These surf boats, although no longer in service, were self-right

  • If we had that weather, there would be no milk available in the entire state

We are bracing for a system that will dump snow from Sunday afternoon until Tuesday morning. 16” or more when it is all said and done. First big storm of the season. Got my snowblower back from being repaired today. Talk about just in time.

The worst I can remember here in my life is 20 inches. The ice is the worst, it’ll shut things down for days! We had an ice event about 7 years ago and the area I covered for work (utility locator) looked like a bomb went off! Trees and utility poles were down everywhere! It was absolutely unbelievable. For whatever reason ice and wind go hand in hand. The worst I’ve heard of was the blizzard of 78 or 79 (a few years before the world was blessed with me ?) Michigan got dumped on and the wind was nasty. My dad has a picture of snow drifts up to the roof of my childhood home! Our area was shut down for a week! He had to walk 2.5 miles to his work to get a tractor from his work to dig out our house. I’ve seen some 4-5 foot drifts but nothing close to 8-9 foot. I’m good with that.

A frigid Arctic air mass is expected to drop into the Midwest and northern Plains behind a strong storm system next week. Overnight lows in the single digits look likely.

Widespread panic is not just a band name........ There wont be a light jacket or gallon of milk available for miles around. "Skipped fall all together" they are still saying........

A few days of bitter cold weather and an occasional blizzard is far better when you compare it to catastrophic weather disasters like hurricanes, wildfires, and earthquakes.

48 and raining all day. Tomorrow the bottom drops out and the temperature plunges to the upper teens with windchills around 2. I think I might break out the long legged under britches! ?

Yup, freezing rain now  changing to lake effect later today here.

And it's Chemo day for Lynn.

Double whammy.

That sucks. Hoping the drive isn’t far, but there isn’t squat around you. I always had to go an hour into Grand Rapids for mine and I’m not as far out as you guys are.

Hoping Her down time is minimal.

19* this morning, the wind is blowing good, making the windchill close to zero. Friday is a high of 40. I think I could tolerate the fluctuations like this all winter. The reality is we’re probably going to get dumped on, it’ll be bitter cold, and time will begin to stand still.

Oh well.
