Side note, just saw Jeff Sprague foul hook a bass that I'm almost positive he was looking at (since he's poled down and just locked eyes on another). He brought it in and turned away from the camera, unhooked quick, then out her on the scale.

Does anyone else think that Jeff Sprague just caught that 6lber outside the mouth? It came up sideways, he didn’t show the camera or the official the hook. I call ***. Anyone else have thoughts? And yes he was locked in on a bedding bass! Obviously

Maybe ~ 

  While I like watching guys catch big bass, and without getting into the weeds on why, I'm not a big fan of sight fishing beds to begin with.

 So while I understand 'the rule' and do believe that the Mike Long snagger approach is totally bush league, this particular situation probably occurs more than we know and may come with the territory when dragging baits around in stained super shallow water.

MDJ, DC and wheeler are the ones to beat at every event. The fact they are good buddies and stay together is even more impressive IMO.

OK,  so it's the end of the second period for this Qualifying Round – Day 2 – Group A.

There's 2.5 more hours to fish today.

Two Questions ~

1.  Will anyone catch & possibly surpass MDJ for first place ?

and

2. Clearly there's a lot on the line, but is it just me, or does Mr Sprague seem to be wound a little tight ?

It’s not just you. I have seen a few interviews with Sprague and got the same vibe.

Don't really know what to expect tomorrow but the knockout round might get very interesting....

He doesn't seem like a cool dude.  Got a little tude with the cameraman because he may have stepped on a rod.  Dude, you're a pro, you know what to expect having a camera in your boat.  Those guys have one job to do and that's film.  If you have 12 rods on one side of your deck, accidents will happen.

Definitely the bite has slowed over the days. Lots of anglers saying pressure has affected the fish! Fletcher even said 16 boats were in his pocket in the morning, but he fished it in the afternoon once everything calmed down and most people left.

With air temps over night in the low 50's and a day time forecast that includes 65 degree temps, cloudy and 30% rain (mostly early), today's round may see a bit of an up tick in both size & numbers.

The weather forecast for the Knockout & the Championship rounds looks very similar, perhaps a bit warmer.

I fished lake fork about this time of year in '07. If you don't hit a stump you didn't fish hard enough 

Now we got Watson saying how the 4 pounder he just caught went right back to the bed and is catchable again....how often is that happening in these BPT spawn tournaments??

The more I watch him, the more I think Mr. Sprague might have an anger issue

Last year there were a few times he looked like he was about to snap a rod over his leg

I also saw him bark at his official over the scale not being ready fast enough for Mr Spragues liking

 

Last day on Lake Fork then the championship day at Lake Athens

 

Some big fish caught all week

 

 

I saw a highlight of Ike fogging the Lens with his breath while screaming.......... Also saw evers snag one in the eye and let it go without weighing it and Brandon Coulter weigh one that he had caught in the neck. I guess his counted since he was cranking. If they are so concerned with fish handling, why not use nets? Lots of big girls still hit the deck

Half the catch is the landing of the fish; play it and lip it or swing it at your own risk.

With just over an hour left in period 2 of this Knockout Round,

the top 8 anglers above the elimination line represent quite an assemblage of persons.

Still some fishing to do but the Championship Round is shaping up to be interesting, educational & entertaining.

Haha I can just imagine how many people get whacked with that net flinging around in FLW, etc. I've 

 

I agree, no net adds to the sport, but it puts a little more strain on everything, including the fish. Hence the 'fish first' moments. I've so far seen rods snap from high sticking, I'm sure guys get hooks in the hand, etc. But 90% of the time everything goes pretty smooth without the net.

 

Side note: I ALWAYS use a net in my boat, unless they are something like a 10in bass. I don't catch enough fish that I need the extra excitement hahaha

Field of 10 anglers is set for the Championship Round.
