Newbie to fishing and the State I'm in now (Mid TN). I'd love to get to know some people to show me the ropes, and make some new friends at the same time.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.  Best way to learn is on the job . . . well I mean on the water.

Yeah, I guess. Just overwhelming with the different options. Lures vs. bait, what kind of rod, reel, jig for the type of water/fish? What kind of retrieve action for different jigs, etc. My main experience is putting a worm or minnow on a circle hook and seeing what comes up out of the water attached to it.

I finally caught my first targetted bass the last time I was fishing on a Texas Rigged Senko, but was probably sheer luck, and wasn't quite sure how best to remove the hook that was half way down his throat. Things like that are why I'd like to try to find a mentor. I tried looking up some fishing clubs near me, and the only one that I was able to contact didn't have any non-boater membership slots available.

This was my first bass from a couple of weeks ago.
