Never thrown one and im considering getting some to try. Thinking maybe like a 5 inch with a 1/2oz jighead. What are some good brands? What are some good heads?

Commenting to get updates. I’ve never thrown one and not sure what they are intended for. 

Of the ones I have thrown, they do have a different action than solid body ones, but my fish seemed disinterested in that offering. 

I don't throw them that often. A few that work well and don't break the bank are the Scottsboro Tackle swimbait, and the Zoom Swimmer. 

I'm about to order some Boys Duckett hollowbodies off TW. They are on sale for $3 and plan on using them on 1/8oz jig heads on the A-Rig I just got today. My thinking is they will be lighter than full plastic ones, that's the only reason I'm picking them up.

I use Yum Money Minnows on a Alabama rig sometimes.  They go on Picasso swimbait head same as a solid body paddle tail for me.  I did try them on a keel weighted hook, and I didn't see a huge difference between them and Keitechs.  Obviously, a lot of people have different experiences, or else no one would go to the trouble they do with Basstrix (dipping the tails in boiling water, re-gluing the eyes, etc.).  If you do go the keel weighted route, it will probably help to slit the bellies, or have a much wider gap hook than I use.  I tried the Zoom ones, and the packaging was less than ideal, most of them had to get the boil treatment to swim straight.

   If it was directed at me, the answer is, "I don't know." I bought them form J-Mac in Colona, IL. I doubt that he pours them himself, so I suppose they could be BassTrix. Price seems wrong, though.

I have Luck-E-Strike Bass Magic, Berkely Hollow Belly, and Zoom Paddletail. I usually rig them on a 1/8 oz ball head jig from Bass Pro. Out of the three, I like the Berkely ones the best. They tend to last longer and I also like their colors. The Luck-E-Strike work, but any that I have ever bought have a very strong plastic smell. 

Smash-Tech Hollow Bodys are hand poured right here in Texas.  Designed to have more body wiggle on the retrieve than your average hollow body and a solid head section to better hold a swimbait hook or a jighead.

Typo was corrected. Bruce of BassTrix was 1st with hollow body soft plastic lures like Paddle tails, Flashtrix, etc back in the 90’s. Bryan Velvick and Bill Seimantel started winning tournaments and the spread fast creating a higher demand then Bruce could meet. The fade has died down, now it’s Keitech soft Swimmers.
