Just ordered my first Ultra high end rod!  Found a CONQUEST 844c on a marketplace page and bought it, and it's on the way now!  Lightly used but looks great.. 500 bucks cant beat it!  Plan on it being my jig rod.

 

Anybody got experience with these rods? 

 

Now gotta buy a reel to put on it... probably a shimano even tho I'm Lews/Daiwa man.  Feels like a sin to put a daiwa on a shimano rod..(yes I realize it's a Loomis/Shimano colaboration)

The 100 is the same, but has the handle on the "correct" side.

 

Thanks @roadwarrior but I'm looking for a low profile reel.  first thought is a new Met. 

The 2020 metanium would be the perfect match for the rod.

I had the 2020 metanium on my conquest 844c, and it felt great.

@roadwarrior I would like a CONQUEST reel as a swimbait or deep CRANKING reel tho.  They are gorgeous!

I wouldn’t rule out a Shimano Bantam.

I own both, and in spite of different price points, I prefer the Bantam to the Met.

Either way, you're going to enjoy that stick

400 for a reel is double what I would typically spend...but an antares...heck no...unless I find one for a heck of a deal like I did the CONQUEST rod.  

 

The bantam idea is also a good one.  

 

 different prices but as fat as Shimano Reels, looking at the bantam and the Chronarch 150 right now.

IMO the Bantam is a MUCH better reel than the Chronarch MGL. If you could swing the 20 Met, I would get it over the Bantam.

Nice score! I don't have any experience with the Conquest, but I am aware that is one of the best jig rods on the market. I picked up a Steez bottom contact rod for next season, and I haven't got to fish it but just by taking the rod sleeve off and feeling all the vibrations, I can tell the sensitivity of the rod is leagues above anything I've ever used.

 

I went with a Steez SV reel to pair with it.
