I would like to see pictures of how you organize hooks in their original packages in your tackle bag or organization box. Any do it yourself ideas?

I don't.  I use the 3600 Plano Edge terminal.  Wayyyyyy easier that way.

I flat pack all my hooks, swivels, bobber stops, etc. in a plastic bait wallet I was given for free. Tucks nicely into one of the pockets in my tackle backpack.

I do the same thing in a Berkley wallet like yours. Easy. Simple. Secure. 

I use a Bass Mafia Deep Coffin for all my terminal tackle.  I buy the small zip bags from an arts and crafts store (Michael’s) and label each bag as well as each slot.  Slots hold 3-5 different sizes within the same style (I.e. 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 flippin’ hook).  I have 120 bags in the pictured box.  For me, it’s the most convenient and efficient way I have found to organize my terminal tackle.  However, I don’t think it would be practical for backpack use.

Don't leave them in original packages. They're sorted into compartments in my BPS 370 along with the weights. Brother P-Touch labeler to label each compartment with what's in it.

This topic is timely, because I'm taking another look at all the crap I drag to the water with me, with an eye towards bringing less of it.

 

The only things I keep in the package are soft plastics.

 

Pictured below is my little terminal tackle box. Everything that I'd ever reasonably find a use for fits in a 3500-series.

 

Is there a reason not to leave them in the original packages? I’m considering leaving them in the original packages and organizing them another option is to take them out of the original package and put them in a small Ziploc bag with a card inside labeling them. Never really liked loose and individual compartments it’s been my experience they tend to migrate. Thanks for all the response I am enjoying the forum

 

 

I only repack them if the original packages don't seal.

I have two 3600 in my backpack. The rest stay in original packing at home. also have one 3700 for inside car.

The pictures were bigger somehow, here another pictures.

I can only speak for myself, you understand...but for me, I use so few different types of terminal tackle that I could just about get what I need by feel alone. In fact, I reckon I probably have.

 

There have been some migration issues in other boxes, but this little 3500 I found in the back of the closet just happens to a) keep everything in the space I've put it pretty well, and b) has just enough spacers to fit everything for which I'm able to articulate a need.

 

It would be awesome to have enough confidence in enough different presentations that I need to create a filing system for my soft plastics, plugs, and terminal tackle, but I have to be realistic.

 

I fish primarily from the bank, and just about every place I fish is really heavily pressured, and the fish have seen it all by now. And I've gotta hump it, three rods, a walking stick, and a bag of sour gummy bears in and out of the spot.

 

So I'm to the point that I'm disinclined to put anything in the bag that I don't have a bunch of confidence in. I don't like wasting my time.

Removing from the bag takes too many slots and the rust propagation potential is also much more damaging.

Where did you get your containers for the beads ?

I worked at a place where we used crimp-pins for electrical connections. The pins came in those containers and we usually just tossed them. I took a bunch home with me.

It's gotta be the BPS-370 boxes though. The Plano 3700 doesn't divide down into as many compartments.

 

Crazy since Plano makes them both - BPS' version is just more logical IMO.

Just gotta make sure anything you put back is thoroughly dried - otherwise everything in that bag is gonna rust.

 

I always dedicate one compartment to Silica Gel Packs - takes care of the rust as well as anything else.

I agree...though I’m really not very careful.  I guess worst case scenario is I would lose the 5-6 items in the bag.  I have rust inhibitor strips in the box but I’m sure the impact is minimal...maybe if I forget to seal a bag I guess.

Since I switched to keeping them in the bags I've had no problems either.  When they were loose...even when I was diligent I lost tackle.

Yup, this is what I do, except I don't have a need for 120 bags of hooks.  I keep things simple and steer clear of single-use items.

 

I have 15-20 total hook bags, and keep them in 3 compartments in my 3700 Plano Rustrictor: Regular worm hooks, flippin/pitchin hooks, finesse hooks.  The Rustrictor is impregnated with rust inhibiting materials, so I never need to worry about rusting.

Then you might want to try the Rustrictor Terminal Tackle Box.  It has smaller compartments (26 total), and prevents rust too.

The BPS-370 divides down into 46 compartments - with one having my Silica Packs, that leaves up to 45 for hooks/weights/misc and is 1/2 the price - good for my budget.

Lol...I don”t have 120 bags of hooks.  I have a tackle problem but it’s not that bad yet.  I have most of my terminal tackle in the box...hooks, weights, jig heads, neds, Carolina, etc.  We are probably pretty similar on numbers of hook bags.
