Top Lures for Spring

Featured Replies

With lots of choices available, it's sometimes difficult to decide which lure to throw during spring. So here are the top three lures I throw throughout the entire spring.  What are your go-to baits?

With fishing ramping up due to ice-out over a wide range of the north, this is timely info...thanks Glenn.

My top three in spring are jigs , spinnerbaits and ... well there are a lot of them tied for number three .

Around here the bass seem to like moving baits until the weather warms up.  My top three are crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, and spinnerbaits.

I've caught the most on a lipless crank, followed by a crappie jig (really), then a jig or T rigged craw. I got the biggest ones on the T rig and CC Super Spot gold/black lipless crank. I've also gotten 2 on the frog and one on the Whopper Plopper.

My favorite spring lure in MN for pre-spawn bass is probably a white spinnerbait. Then during the spawn I'll switch to a wacky rigged senko for bed fishing.

Jigs, drop shot worms and weightless Senko has been working pre spawn, spawn and post spawn.

My Top 3 producing brown bass lures throughout the entire spring

(which is a little tricky to pick as the water temps warm fairly quickly)

are a Jerkbait, a vibrating jig and a swinghead.

Rage Tail Menace, T-rigged, 1/4 oz bullet weight

Been getting a lot of fish on lipless crankbaits in south west Florida the past few weeks. Also got myself two times in the past two weeks with those trebles.
