For flipping into sporadic laydowns , moderate cover water willows , eel grass , etc. where the likelihood of bass seeing your line is higher - what size fluorocarbon line do you use for flipping senkos , craws , etc. ?  *I'm thinking somewhere between #15 lb. ~ #25 lb. fluorocarbon line size (or 0.33 ~ 0.43 diameter line size - depending on FC line manufacturer) is about right . I currently have a T-Rig reel set up with P-Line fluorocarbon #17 lb. size (0.39 diameter) which should work for moderate cover flipping . Another thought is to possibly use #50 lb. braid with a leader of #15 lb. ~ #25 lb. fluorocarbon ... Your thoughts and experiences ? 

I’ll use either 14# or 16# Sniper for what you describe. 

I don’t use leaders for anything, even if I lost my mind and did, 50# braid with a 25# leader wouldn’t be my first choice.

*That appears to be in the ball park Mike - Sniper is reported to be very strong for it's diameter line size ...

Sunline has a small diameter compared to a lot of other lines.

I actually use 18 or 20 lb sunline for pitching. 20 pound is still only .37 mm. In diameter and it is very strong and abrasion resistant.

I am not a big fan of braid to leader for pitching in cover. Around here zebra mussels cut braid like it is sewing thread.

If you fish heavily wooded areas, flats of shell bed’s or areas of corse vegetation you may find Sunline’s Shooter a better choice as it’s designed specifically for those.

In my opinion, when you consider all factors it’s the best line there is regardless of type or manufacturer.

I have two rods I use -

 

One for lighter flipping, sparse/medium cover... Texas-rigs, smaller jigs and after going back/forth between #12 and #15 fluorocarbon landed on 12 lb. Thrown on a MHF rod. Actually works great a majority of the time. If I get overmatched, I switch over to my second rod:

 

A Heavy-Fast rod with braid tied direct or about half the time a leader of 17 lb Abrazx.

 

I have done quite well with 40 and 50lb 832 to a 25lb sniper leader when pitching. 

I use 15lb InvizX for what your describing and its worked really well.  I do use 12lb from time to time and it works also, but you have to be careful with it.  I have way more confidence in 12lb mono then 12 FC for breaking strength. 

I use 15lb Tatsu for a majority of my fluorocarbon pitching needs. Great thing about that line is it's supple enough to use in the open water situations, but strong enough to get them out when I get into something thicker than I probably should have with it. 

17 lb Sniper. Had very good luck using this line.

I suppose there was a time when Big Game #12 lb. ~ #15 lb. mono was used for pitching / flipping . While enough lack of visibility - feel may suffer slightly due to stretch but less so with short amount of line out ?

You're on the right track, more like 17 or 20 instead of 12/15 though. I used 17 lb and a 3/8 oz jig with pork for most of my life. Now I switch to braid when the grass really gets thick. 

30lb braid to 20lb FC leader

20

30/40 braid to 16-20lb fc100 leader. You can winch a truck out and boat flip just about anything on that 20lb fc100 leader tied with an Alberto knot. 

15lb Abrazx and occasionally 15lb Tatsu.  For the heavy stuff, 20lb Invizx.  I like that it's not as stiff as Abrazx or Tatsu at the 20 lb rating but you do loose some abrasion resistance.    Still tough line though.
