What do you throw for freshwater striped bass?  My fall/winter goal is to catch my first striper but I have no clue where to start.

I have had GREAT success with an Alabama Rig.

Cotton Cordell Redfin, Bomber long a , storm jointed thunder stick, a big popper of any kind, a big walking bait of any kind. Then you’ve got the boils below a dam, where a fluke or buck tail is king, or a buck tail with a fluke on it 

This one grabbed the thunder stick on the top boat side, Yee haw

That might be tough for me, since I’m a bank fisherman and the heaviest rod I have is a MH-F

For numbers I throw a lipless crank or jerks or…for size I’ll toss bigger swim baits or lrge top waters 

If you're lake fishing, a Normans DD22 works well. I've caught them on flukes, Traps, plastic swimbaits.

Oops sorry,  I only throw the Spro hair jigs.  If I'm trolling that's another story.

I'm partial to a diamond jig myself...

Fishhead spin with a paddle tail like a rage swimmer if your a bank angler or a spoon would be great starting options

Once the water turns cold here you get almost nothing but stripers bank fishing lipless cranks off the rocks. Swimming paddle tails Texas rigged weight or no does it too.
