Fall bass think they're gonna skunk me

Featured Replies

Think again. I'll see you bucket mouths again tomorrow. I'm not playing.

2 hour round trip for these two. Never thought I would, but the fishing has been so tough this week, it was an anger purchase after a skunking. ?spacer.png

The bait monkey is strong with this one ?. They sure are pretty baits.

Good luck ?

Lol, I have a +1 in GP Pro Perch. It is an absolutely beautiful lure. I won’t be using it now that I moved to Georgia….need to find a way to frame it to admire

Bought when I lived up north and didn’t have shad around. Perch and blue gill were the main forage

You don't literally have to match your hatch. People routinely use trout patterns with no trout in their lakes with success, for example. I'd use it.

It has been pretty tough here too recently. We’re stuck in between summer and fall. Calendar says fall but the weather says summer. I have the white one on the left and I may have to just give it a try.

I’ve certainly thought about it. Might be worth a shot. Just hard to put down the shad patterns that work to try something wildly different

Hope you make out great tomorrow. Some nice looking lures. Good luck with them. I have no idea what is in store for me tomorrow. Probably just gonna stick with what has been working up until now. Gonna try to cover 5’,  12’ and 18’ depths. Get some worm and stick baits in and hope for the best.

Fished for two hours this morning before I had to run errands. I caught two; one 10 incher on a 3/8 oz War Eagle with a Zako trailer and a 2 1/2 lber on the Pearl 110. That's bass ackwards. Headed back now to see what the rest of the afternoon has in store.

Good luck and have fun. We’ve been having temps all over the place lately. Not rain associated with it but different fronts. That is probably worse than rain. Temp swings are day to day. I’m mid Atlantic/North East. The worm has definitely turned I just have to deal with it. Fish hard have fun.

Thanks man, I hope you slay them tomorrow!

How are you retrieving the 110 right now?  Snapping it quickly with short pauses?

PSA ~ it's like summer here too.

Not complaining but the water temps say fall and for some reason the brown bass

didn't get the memo.

Took fish early & late on topwater yesterday and then threw both arms off firing a wide assortment of jerkbaits all over the dern lake -

For like 6 hours straight.

NOT A SNIFF.

Saw plenty of fish, even a few giants.

But the jerkbait was not the deal for me despite the attempted force feeding.

Fish Hard

Surprised to hear it. You, SMB, and jerkbaits seem to go together like bread and peanut butter and jelly.

A little south of you here in the Indianapolis area we're stuck in between summer and fall. It all started with that nasty cold front a week-ish ago that pushed the temps down to highs of 50s and lows of 40s for a few days. Now it's been in the 80s every day for 5 days, with night time lows in the high 50s, low 60s. The fish seem scattered and not much is making sense. Right before that cold front I could go out any day and catch double digit numbers on lipless crankbaits and spooks in an hour or two. And then it all died. Gotta love it.

Huh. This does make me wonder.

*Don't actually fish with them - just take them out of the package , look at them in different kinds of light - then put them back in the package like I do (lol !)

Caught on the Pearl 110 in pouring rain and dirty water this morning. I don't follow the rules. We have resoundingly rejected Thursday's skunking.

Many of our lakes have Yellow Perch. I'd fish it.
