Lake Juliette Truck break ins

Featured Replies

On 1/14/22 five trucks had their windows knocked out and plundered at Lake Juliette in Monroe Ga.(My primary lake). On 1/22/22 six more trucks had their windows knocked out and plundered. This happened in broad daylight. It's a State Park with zero security. Just a heads up for anybody that may fish it, don't leave anything you may want later in your vehicle.

Incredible, can't imagine coming back to truck in this condition.

Soon you won't be able to smile without your teeth being stolen.

Yeah it's kinda hard to enjoy the trip when you've got the lingering thought of coming back to a damaged truck and spending 1.5 - 2 hours with the deputies.

Luckily when they did that to mine, they realized they probably already had nicer stuff than me and didn’t steal anything . But that glass was a pain, close to $300 and even after they vacuumed, I would find little pieces of glass for years

It's almost better just to leave your doors unlocked at that point.

That’s what my cousin does. He said the most expensive thing in his truck is the insurance card. I lock mine still, just so nobody hot wires it and leaves

I normally leave my truck empty and unlocked when I am going to a ramp I don’t think is secure.  My old 3/4 ton 2004 Silverado would allow me to set the factory alarm and not lock the doors.  If anyone pulled on the door handles to see if it was locked, the door would open and the alarm would go off.  I did it to myself a bunch of times when I forgot I set the alarm. Nonetheless thieves suck.

I do the same thing with my 2001 Silverado...the only thing thieves would get outta my truck is maybe a spare quart of oil.

One of the victims truck doors wasn't locked and they still busted his window and climbed in. These aren't door checking criminals they're smashing and grabbing. Most vehicles factory alarm will only go off if the door is opened, so I don't think they even look.

Hope they catch the scumbags that broke into those cars.

Yes

I fished Juliette a lot this past fall and winter, and I'm sad to see I've got to worry about my truck these days.  Oh well, to Sinclair and Oconee I go.
