First Time Back

Featured Replies

I'm almost feeling a little sorry for the rest of yall ... almost.  It's nice to see the pics and read about all the good catches but , for me , today was almost more special . It's not very often that I get to build a memory like I did today . My first time back for a serious day of fishing in 45 years ! Clear blue skies and winds around 4-5 mph . Brisk air temperature just enough to get you to shed that outer layer pretty quick . Brand new lake with what must be infinite possibilities . I hope yall get to build a memory as strong as the one that came my way today . Sure , I got skunked , but that just leaves something to build on .  ( Now , if anyone wants to share some tips on Tims Ford Lake , it won't hurt my feelings at all. )  :)

Tim’s ford, I’ll be darned. You don’t hear that name thrown around too often! I have never fished there, but I certainly know a lot of folks that have . Seems to me in videos and photos like an excellent to be dragging something along the bluffs and points. Also after any warm rain, the muddy water coming into the backs of pockets can be magic. I’ve seen some big ole smallies in photos, I bet @Chris Catignanihas fished there

@TnRiver46 You bet. Its a great fishery...but like all fisheries...there are days when you just get skunked. The secret is to keep fishing...and keep coming back. Its still early in the year...and the water still on the cool side.( 52 at Center Hill today)

It’s always more fun to catch fish, but being on the water on a beautiful day is never a bad thing.

I’ve never fished Tim’s Ford, but I’ve always thought it looks beautiful on a map and in pictures. Maybe someday I’ll go fish it.

Thanks TnRiver46. Tried a bit of all of these yesterday with Ned rig, underspin paddle tail, and mojo rig. I definitely have a feeling that it isn't the fishery but it's the fisher that brought on the big ole goose egg yesterday :)

Thanks Chris. Water temp at Tims yesterday was 55-56 degrees and the lake is within 4 feet of full pool. You bet I'll keep fishing. What's the old story of the boy digging in the deep pile of droppings because he was sure there must be a pony somewhere under all of that :)

I was born and raised on Guntersville lake. With all the negative comments you hear about it being over fished , I still think it's one of the best around . I simply want to try to learn how to do it on a different type of fishery. I may get totally whupped and fall back to the river :)

As long as we keep getting out there, and keep casting we're never really whupped IMHO.

How did you do on the Hill?

I barely escaped the skunk on the Cumberland River Sunday

I think the moon and warming this week will put things in motion....

Excellent. According to my wife if it wasn't for fishing memories I'd have none.?

I can remember my first  date & first bass .

Date was fantastic.  Bass was ok.
