A trophy out of northern Ohio

Featured Replies

Today I finally broke my personal best by 1.25 pounds. I have been fishing in northern Ohio my whole life and have only caught one other bass over 5 pounds. I know for the southern guys this isn’t really a big deal, but this doesn’t happen often up here. I have only heard stories of fish like this. Today I caught and released, in healthy condition, a trophy fish in my eyes. She hit a top water frog that I think I casted right on top of her bed. She was a FAT 6.77 pounds.

Congrats on the new PB. Your right for Ohio that is a trophy. I was born & raised in NE Ohio and my biggest Ohio largemouth was 5.5lbs.

Any pro in any tournament anywhere would be fist pumping and giving praise to god for that fat girl. Might even win big fish $. Congrats!

Nice fish! Up here those are hard to come by. Good work.

As a "southern" boy, I think that is a heck of a fish!

All my family lives in Ohio and they haven't caught anything within 2 pounds of that. Congrats!

Caught her again today and she was 6.26 this time. Hit the top water frog again.

That's a nice fish for ANY part of the country! I haven't broken 6lb in FL!
