Thoughts on this upcoming fishing Video Games? (Call of the Wild: The Angler)

Featured Replies

My impression so far; I am not seeing any bass on the trailer. It hit me that fishing has come long way to become popular again especially after the pandemic (I started fishing in 2020 before pandemic, took it seriously at the beginning 2021). I remember when I was a kid back in 2006s playing Fisherman's Bait 2: Big Ol' Bass on original PlayStation, and since had carved my way in into fishing world to pick up that nostalgia.

Do you think with the upcoming game like this will further catapults bass fishing even more? At least in SoCal, most people will pier-fishing instead since they are public and no license required. Probably, it will affect more on the other part of the country that have more access to lakes.

Personally, I don’t think the popularity of fishing went down during the pandemic, if anything it became more so.

Also, If I can be influenced to being involved in any sport or pastime by playing a video game, it wouldn’t be worth doing.

But that’s me

Edit…

However, if a game CAN help to generate interest in someone to fish then it can be a good thing.

Video games are not my thing, but if the game action is as impressive as the scenery in the video it might be enough to get some folks through the winter.

Wonder if they put any of the big bass lakes in the game?

Can be double-edge sword if it did, because it would have make bass fishing more pressured than ever, although I doubt it.

True story,

Bought my 1st Xbox, probably 30 years ago and got addicted to sports games, real bad I say.......NFL, MLB, NBA and Nascar.

I was consumed.

After blowing it up from overheating, have not played a video game since nor will I. Lol

To those that have self control, enjoy ?

Haven’t sat down to really play a video game in ages. And I grew up with that stuff. Fishing has got a pretty firm hold on me

Im 45 and have played video games since the Vic-20 on cassettes, I enjoyed Fishing Sim on PS4 and most CODs. Sadly since my head injury and stroke last year and the limited use of my left hand I can no longer play.

The appeal of fishing is not sitting at home on the couch with a controller in ones hand.

I don't play video games aside from Candy Crush and Solitare. Many would argue that those aren't video games.

My personal opinion is people play games like Call of Duty, Madden Football, Grand Theft Auto, etc is because it puts them in some kind of fantasy land. It allows them to experience something they could not or would not have experienced on their own.

I gamed a lot back in the 1990's -- Doom, Wolfenstein, Call of Duty on the PC. Had some cool Star Wars games on the computer. When my kids were young in the early 2000's, we got an xBox 360 & Wii. Daughter and I loved to play guitar hero and NCAA football 2007.

When daughters got involved more in sports, the gaming pretty much stopped.

I will play some NCAA '07 in the winter...between hunting season and ice-out, just to kill the time.

I've got no interest in games any more. Heck, I don't even turn on the TV much, except to watch college football and some NFL here and there.
