it just dawned on me that my baits may be flagged by TSA.    dang it!!

i will probably check a bag just in case.  anyone ever successfully bring a bag of topwaters and Megabass Freestyles onto a plane?  i dont think i want to risk my baits.

You can’t carry on reels filled with line either

This I have done. Last year. Same trip as this year.

I do it all the time including international flights to Canada & Mexico. I have been doing it for at least 30 years. I have seen others prevented from taking reels with line on into Canada during 9/11 and once on a connecting flight after having already arrived in Mexico. Only two times Have I witnessed it happening. My argument with airport inspections was it isn’t any more dangerous than a belt or shoestrings from a shoe for weaponizing fishing line.

Most airline's prohibit hooks on carry on especially trebles. Single hooks like flies sometimes fly under the radar.

It is very sensitive subject for me, Not I only not carry all of the above, Also ill wear all pink, Well groomed and nail done while boarding planes LOL

And the irony in that is I have so many badges and airport pass due to my job.

So I'll get easy in airports from any back gate but for travel that is a NO NO and I believe we shouldn't blame them, They really doing all that for us and our love ones safety and security. So I never blame them because they know something that we dont know. in this case we as normal people dont know why a fishing line can be dangerous except when it snapped on fish of lifetime, But for sick minded scoundrels out there can be anything(some people can be very creative).

My company and I going to follow up with PD headquarters here to help them make some educational video for traveler. I just need to get on my feet after covid hit my business so bad and once I recover I'll do that for free for security of people.

As a kid they checked my tackle bag after the X ray.  They said the hooks looked like hypodermic needles.  I was 11 YO and by myself, I guess they thought I was a drug mule, before they actually searched the bag.

I’m 80% packed.  Baits/lures are getting checked with clothing.  Now I’m bringing too much clothes since I now have the space.  Reels  and travel rod as carry on.  Along with electronics and GoPro.

I got the Madelorian downloaded.  Bose headphones charged.  Let’s do this.

thx.

I have brought very limited quantities (samples) of lures in my carry-on bags without incident.  But if I were to bring more than a few, I'd put them in checked baggage just to be safe.

i cant wait.  last time i watched Mando (on a flight).the lady next to me kept nudging me and asking what was going on.  hahhaha...if it was deep deep covid time, or i would have played it thru the speaker and got her to buy my beer.  :D

I filled two 3700s with various lures that included 5/0 EWGs and whopper ploppers and had no issues going to SWFL multiple times. They stopped me for having fishing pliers once though but eventually let me through.

As soon as my girlfriend is done with work at 5 we’ll be watching the finale.
8 episodes just seems like a tease!

I have traveled to Maine several times with my fishing gear. Multiple travel rods and a carry on with the reels and tackle. I get the personal inspection almost every time too. But no issues or being told that I couldn't bring them.

I traveled 4 days ago with lures, bags of hooks and a fishing reel with line (saw that mentioned above) in my carry on backpack and was just fine.
