Alex from GA
9/28 went to the Chattahoochee River to try and catch a Chattahoochee Bass for the GA Bass Slam. They are gorgeous fish and a large one is 12". We floated in kayaks and had to walk several places, drops and low water, on slippery rocks. Pretty tough for an old man but worth it. Caught 6 with the largest 10 1/4".

Super User MIbassyaker Posted September 30, 2023 Super User Share Posted September 30, 2023 Pretty little guy! Its so easy to forget there are over a dozen black bass species, most of which can only be found in very particular places of the country. A recent study did a genetic analysis and found that black basses as a group may be best described as 19(!) distinct species, including a few that have not been officially recognized: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9170712/
