Chattahoochee Bass

Featured Replies

9/28 went to the Chattahoochee River to try and catch a Chattahoochee Bass for the GA Bass Slam.  They are gorgeous fish and a large one is 12".  We floated in kayaks and had to walk several places, drops and low water, on slippery rocks.  Pretty tough for an old man but worth it.  Caught 6 with the largest 10 1/4".

Excellent. Old maybe, but not too old.

Scrambling on slippery rocks? Whoa! You. are. tough.

And that bass is gorgeous. I can see why you worked so hard to catch them.

Pretty little guy! Its so easy to forget there are over a dozen black bass species, most of which can only be found in very particular places of the country.

A recent study did a genetic analysis and found that black basses as a group may be best described as 19(!) distinct species, including a few that have not been officially recognized:

I have personally caught 12 of the 19 recognized species so far.

Whoa! That looks like a glide bait without hooks that has caught some fish thru the years
