Lipless wood

Treble hooks around wood will result in hang-ups, learn to go get em, learn how to use a plug knocker, & accept the fact you will lose some.

My PB is 12 5#, it was caught with a Trap, on the front hook y'all wanna cut off.

Hey I figure I'll take not hanging up and putting my bait in dumb places over maybe missing a fish now and again.

I mean it's just 1/6 of the hooks.

I think the trade off is probably worth it if it is.

Also, this is only something I'm doing when I'm bank fishing a spot I know is loaded with snaggy stuff.  I have lipless cranks I leave alone for rockier bottoms and when I'm in a boat.

I keep a box of cheap lipless ( Amazon ) for wood but there's a down side to the real cheapies....... they don't wobble as well on a slow retrieve so I either have to burn them or use a yo-yo retrieve.

I may try cutting the hooks as suggested.

You don’t have to cut anything , remove BACK treble with split ring pliers, put it back on when you’re not in stumps

So you would give up a 12.5#?

@Catt I can't catch em with 6 hooks anyways.  It's fine.  😂😂😂

Lipless in wood is much more fun than I was expecting. You just don’t know what is going to happen. Is it going to clear the wood? Is it going to snag? Is that a bite?

I can tell you one thing that is for sure going to happen.  The Bait Monkey is going to quit hiding in the bushes at my house and move in with you.

When I'm fishing a lipless out of a boat I just make sure I have the lure retriever on board.  When fishing from the bank I will try and cast out a Texas rig to try and get a feel for what is around on the bottom.  It won't be 100% accurate, but you'll get an idea of where to cast.

You have better luck than whoever has been fishing them at Cunnigham Falls lake here in Maryland. Walked the lake after draw down and found 9 lipless cranks stuck in trees. Found 3 Six Sense ones along with some Redeye shads.
