I think you want to go with the Stella, not because the Steez may not be top quality, it 's because if I remember correctly the Steez is only manufactured in shallow spool models ( 2506 only holds 100 yards of 6 pound fluorocarbon ). So unless you 're planning on do a lot of finesse fishing it may not be the best choice.

The Shimano Stella is the finest reel anyone could ever hope to own....period!

if you want the best then no question its the stella

You have a better selection with the Stella and it is the reel by which all others are measured as compared with the Steez. The only Daiwa reel that has as many models is the Certate but does not have the history behind it like the Stella does. That said try them all before you buy.

STELLA. if i had the choice of a Stella and any other spinnig reel, i would always pick the Stella.

Without a doubt, the Stella is the best.

Curious that they have two models only 2 tenths difference in weight yet an enourmous difference in line capacity.

I have always liked the feel of Daiwa baitcasters over Shimano's but spinning is a completely different animal.

I will be getting a quality spinning reel this year as well.  Don't know about spending the bucks for either the Steez or the stella, but based on the reputations of the two companies I would tend to lean toward the newer design.

Then again, I have never fished a stella. Or at least not yet

Same model, one version for finesse and one "standard".  The difference in weight is probably just the spool.  ?

Sure the Stella is proven, but it is a few years old now and something will come along better, whether it comes from Shimano or Daiwa.  You can't wait 5 years for a model to prove itself, or you will never have the latest technology.  I'd go with the Steez just from handling both, but I've never fished with either.  Like the high-end rods, just pick your poison...they are all fantastic at that price.

I gotta say, I am with the natural on this one. I have never fished either, but held both side by side earlier in the week at BPS. Now, from all of the input I have gathered from this board and other sources, it is unanimous that the Stella is the best in the biz....however, how do we know if it is better than the Steez until we fish the Steez in order to get a true comparison??

I am risk taker...and I like the lighter weight.....if I were in the market for one or the other, I would bring home the Steez.

As already stated, you won't go far wrong with either one, Shimano and Daiwa are two names I've always trusted.

However, if I were in the market for a state-of-the-art spinning reel, I too would probably give Steez the nod (I love light).

well fellas- update from the poster: I bought the steez, be here next week I got this one:.STEEZ2500  ML/L  11CRBB, 1RB  4.8 : 1   28.0  7.10  6/210, 8/170,10/140   I have a friend that has a stella and of course loves it.  I am the kinda person that likes going against the grain- I will for sure be as service to you all and give you an unbiased review on the reel- head to head with the stella.

Excellent point.  If in fact the only difference is the spool (and it certainly appears that way) for the money they are asking a spare spool would seem like the decent thing to do.

The stella has no extra spool but you can buy one for 85.00 .

Isn't it crazy? 85.00 for a spare spool. You could get a whole new reel for that...of lesser qualiy of course.
