Got her back up and running!!!!

 

my neighbors down at the lakehouse gave me permission to cut up at least 3 of their fallen trees as well, going to be a busy firewood season ! I’ve missed it. Only cost me a $20 carb plus $10 shipping 😂 . might try to help cut up some

hurricane damage too if they will let me

It's that time of year.

I really enjoy cutting firewood and messing with chainsaws.

Dropped a large Oak last week that was full of those huge Asian hornets. 😳

Think I'll wait till it gets cold before blocking it up. 😅

Very nice! We got hit hard by the bark beetle years ago and I've had to drop around 60 trees on the property. Still bucking those up as time allows and I feel like letting out the Tim Allen grunt anytime I get to fire up the Echo or little Husky.

Yeah, fortunately outside of a a dozen or so nightmarish, girthy sized 70-100 footers most of them were skinny 30-40 footers that are perfect for campfires. I have another 10 or so needing to be dropped right now but will be waiting until burn season returns so I can just drop and burn 'em.

My chainsaw needs work. I paid 50.00 for it used, around 20 years ago. Took it to the shop and they wanted 175.00 to fix it…

Looking for other options…

Tough to beat a Stihl Farm Boss.

This MS290 20" bar has done some cutting.

Keep it tuned, the chain sharp and not much slows it down.

I spent the summer of '69 at my brother's in Forsyth, MO. My summer job was cutting trees, running em through the peeler mill, running em through the saw mill, running em through the creosote mill.

I’m glad I have a heat pump now, I used to cut it because it was my only source of heat when I rented a log cabin. That was back spasm city

You can never go wrong with Stihl but for the money..... Echo.

There’s 3-4 things wrong with it. I have a friend that fixes them very cheap, almost as a hobby. I’ll probably take it to him.I just don’t have time to mess with it right now..

Yeah, I agree. Mine is a Stihl, and Ive used echos when I did commercial landscape maintenance.

My echo 590 is a beast. It's been redneck tuned and I chainsaw mill with it. That has been one of my better purchases of the past decade!

Yes the Timber Wolf is fantastic saw and even more so with a muffler mod and re-tune.

You having trouble with saw after new Carb ?

@Bird, it ran really good for a session . Next time I tried it the primer bubble wouldn’t hold any pressure. The carb kit came with a new bubble, gas lines, and fuel filter. I only installed the carb, it seems like I should have installed the bubble too haha. I’ll keep ya posted 

 

I was surprised to hear you had trouble from the stihl, I’ve always heard they were nearly bulletproof

Ha Ha, no never had trouble with any of my Stihl's.

I said you can't go wrong with Stihl but for the money it's hard to beat Echo.

My brother has a sawmill and uses nothing but Stihl pro saws.

I’ve got an old Husky 44 white top, bought in the mid 80’s when I heated with wood, it has never let me down but it’s getting heavier with every passing year. Last year I picked up a 10” Stihl cordless, what a nice light saw for smaller jobs, probably in the 8” range so far. Still have the Husky in case anything bigger needs doing.

 

Over the last few years I’ve had 30 or so bigger trees taken down professionally, too big a job for me.

@Bird, installed the new fuel lines that came with it and it started right up. My wife told me when the kit came in the mail to install all the new stuff (carb, primer, filters and lines) and I just installed the carb only and went to cutting . She said “see why I said to install all the new stuff?” And I replied “don’t tell me my business devil woman!” 😂 😂 

 

the old line in the gas tank was coming apart from the inside, looked normal until I tried to pull the filter out . Then the inner lining came out with it and it was pinched shut like a straw in a thick milkshake. I was wondering why the saw seemed like it wasn’t getting any fuel haha

Trying to clear the neighbors tree without the logs going downhill at warp speed, tried to build a little barrier but one got away last week
