So I am 'officially on the clock'.

I'll explain.

The month of August and beginning of September is a killer time to be out on Lake Menderchuck.

For several reason to include but perhaps not limited to the weather is often very OG fisherman friendly, a bit less boating traffic and the most powerful draw is the potential for seriously plus sized fish no one else is targeting.

So as the calendar rolled over to July, between now & then,

I've got 30 days or so to get as much done on my property (and tackle) as I can.

All a good thing as it motivated me to focus, bust my azz when I can,

knowing the whole time what lies ahead.

So we'll see how it goes.

Whatever that may be, one thing's for sure.

There will be some effort expended.

The light at the end of the tunnel . . .

Work Hard  & Fish Harder

Hope all goes well with the cleanup.

On a smaller scale, my bass fishing will dramatically end as soon as the temperatures drop enough to play lumberjack.

We had a major gypsy moth outbreak last year killing roughly 15% of our large

Oaks.

13 of which are a threat to fall on either the house, vehicles and an expensive outdoor wood boiler.

They must come down and hopefully fall in the right direction.😁

Same here. It's been brutal tough here for a few weeks. That big heat wave brought the surface temp up from 72 to 82 in a week, and it was 84 yesterday. Shut 'em off like a switch. I haven't caught a muskie in 3 weeks and have only managed some dink bass. I'm REALLY looking forward to the hot bite that comes with the falling water temps once we start getting some cooler nights in August.

Haven't been on Lake Menderchuck in 'several weeks'.

With the calendar approaching August, a prime time for me here,

I'm getting the rig & the gear ready to make an all out assault during the best times;

whenever that turns out to be,

Next few days I'll put the finishing touches on that deal so that sometime in the middle of next week,

I can make a shake down cruse to ensure I'm ready best I can.

There will no doubt be a lot of graphing & looking around, might make a few casts,

test out some new gear and different type presentations, just to acclimate how they fish (before it matters). But mostly just try to get a feeling on how the bait population in there looks and what state the weed die off is in.

Both are major players in my quest for plus sized brown bass.

Might be dodging a bit of rain but either way,

I'll feel good because I'm floating in the Pro-V bass again.

I did a little recon today. The milfoil that was matted just a couple weeks ago in several of my favorite bays is now only about halfway to the surface. I consider that optimum for my night muskie fishing adventures.

The 45 day forecast is looking good to have the water on a slow steady cooling trend through August. I hope it holds. As of now, conditions are looking good for my vacation from 8/10 through 8/20.

I built a single mag #12 blade for night operations, and took it for a test drive last night. I think it's gonna be good. Tons of thump and it sounds like a mini locomotive coming though the water. Double skirts with two 7/0 trebles hiding in them.

Good Luck my friend.

I'll be on the hunt myself in just under 10 hours.

If you're like me and you were born in the 50's,

grew up in the 60's and made it into 2025,

we've lived in eight different decades,

two centuries, two millenniums,

and we're not even 80 yet.

How did we make it this far ? ? ?

The Lake Menderchuck weather forecast for this coming week

is looking mighty attractive to this guy.

Could be some of the right kind of wind and decent cloud cover.

Hoping to pull a back to back first light evolution for Tuesday & Wednesday.

Boat & truck are already topped off.

So we'll see how all that plays out.

If nothing else, I would certainly fancy a few more fish tacos.

The last ones were most delightful.

More to follow.

Alarm is set for a 0315 reveille as Civil Twilight is 0545 tomorrow morning.

Plan to be firing up the ProXS 2 at first safe light.

Ride up Lake Menderchuck should be pretty sweet.

Forecast is calling for some showers mid morning

but the temps & wind are very fisherman friendly.

Just packed my chow and I'm ready to go.

While it still might be just a bit on the early side for big brown bass.

But I'll never know unless I go.

Couldn't sleep so I’m getting a head start.

There's just a bit of zero dark thirty coolness in the air.

Welcome and quite refreshing.

Here.  We.  Go !

Tomorrow (Friday) will be my next fishing day.  Temps finally cooled a bit here. So there's will need to be some lawn and landscaping work done today which will free me up for a Lake Menderchuck experience tomorrow.

Hope the water cleared up.

Fishing day for me tomorrow.

First light on Lake Menderchuck is the plan.

Been rigged & ready for a few days now.

Hoping for towater action to start, then I

might wing that lippless bait around again.

Be nice if the poor air quality improved to tolerable levels.  Seriously.  Canadian wild fire smoke has blanketed this region for weeks.
