Heard that their expo was attendance was lacking.

The Redcrest expo is not even in the same galaxy as the Classic expo.   I went last year to the Redcrest expo at the BJCC and the best deals/vendor was my hometown tackle store.

The Classic expo is the mecca for anybody who does business in the Bass industry, way more impactful than the ICast show imho.

I am a BASS guy. But trying to watch the Classic was painful. After the 20th time I heard the Dave Mercer highlight “boom shakalaka Gi-Gi-Gi-Giant bass” I **** it off. I think it’s broken.

I actually like the two guys who do MLF. They talk about the fishing and keep it light.  I almost teared up a little when they talked about Val Kilmer. But yeah credit to them.  Plus choosing a venue that is actually fishing well. Novel concept.

My problem with MLF is that it will always be a little too LIV Golf for me and it is fueled by Stan Kroenke money who is one of the worst people in sports that I can think of.

I'm not too familiar with the PGA/LIV deal, but I'd agree the MLF has had some massive problems, and quite honestly, I was a hater of them because I've been a BASS man since I was about 8-10yrs old.    I remember going to Classics at the BJCC as a boy.

The Heavy Hitters event down on Kissimmee where Jordan Lee won, and KVD won the big fish on the final day was the first MLF event where I said maybe I don't have to be a hater.     Since then I've only enjoyed their format, and especially their coverage more and more.   Today I find myself a true 180 degrees opposite of where I was this time last year.

BASS's format is broken in the post FFS age imho, and it goes without saying their coverage is not even comparable to the MLF, or even the NPFL albeit they're still scaling up full coverage.    Just show the fishing......I'm watching to learn first and foremost, and I suspect most other pro fishing fans are doing it for the exact same reason.   Dave Mercer can't teach me anything, however anyone of the 100 Elite Series guys can.

Thanks buddy. I was actually able to get out and fish for a good 10 hours the other day. Was a little beat the next day. But I'll be fishing til the wheels fall off.

Would have thought this derby would generate more discussion and interest.   First day was fantastic, so many different things in play.......sight fishing, power fishing up shallow, shaking

In all the stuff I listen to and read, the indicators are that BASS is in a wait and see approach this season and there would be a bigger change next season.

BASS should cut back on the amount of on air personality and add more cameras.

These dude have the ability to be superheroes to so many kids, glad to see MDJ being one of those to that kid.

You should watch the DC Fishing practice video he released a few days ago.    Really shows you how next level that dude's brain is in terms of winning Bass derbies.

Got toe Mighty  🤣

He's a really likable guy, and he's one of the few pro anglers that's making a ton of money in the sport.   I'm sure he's making well over a million a year to chase green and brown fish in the most beautiful parts of the most beautiful country on earth.......the man is winning at the game of life.

DC just dropped his last day Redcrest video, didn't know they wore helmets when it rains, I assume it was for the rain, really good video. Anyone know about the helmet thing let me know just curious.

I follow DC and MDJ and a few others on the tube and they really do seem like normal folks for the most part they seem like they would have fun fishing with anyone. The endorsements side of things I am not sure how much these guys are making, DC winning Redcrest I know they talk about the 300K but that is before the tax man comes calling, hopefully he has some good tax advisors but usually they are taking 40% of that number if not more...

I just saw the helmet too. Wondered about that?

Only time I wear a helmet on the boat is running down the lake with temps below freezing.

Ski goggles at a minimum are a game changer running in colder weather.

I watched part of the video but didn't see helmet.  It's a good idea to wear a helmet if you are running a high speeds.  If you are ejected from a boat and hit the water at 70 mph you need a helmet and a PFD that is designed to withstand that type of impact without being ripped off of you.   DC ran 70 miles and I assume he has a fast boat so wearing a helmet makes sense.

I absolutely agree and understand the helmet issue. I just didn’t know they do/did that. Wondered if it was a rule or something. But then I saw that DC was the only one in the boat wearing said helmet and that what got me to wondering…

I’ve seen some of them lose a bet and have to wear all kinds of hilarious stuff, costumes, masks, etc. Or even carry a monstrous stuffed banana. I think DC was just the only one going that far in the rain and needed to see

He wore it because it was pouring rain the entirety of a 70 mile drive

Can you imagine the official and cameraman having to ride that in the same conditions without a helmet?  That had to be miserable.  DC said in a recent video he posted that it took him an hour and 15 minutes and was going roughly 65 mph. 😬
