Help me ID an old Rat-L-Trap Color

Featured Replies

Twenty years ago I had a trap that was White with vertical chartreuse stripes. I don't remeber if it had a colored back or any color on the belly. If it did have a colored back, it wasn't prominent, such as black.

Similar in pattern to the Fire Craw colored trap here:

Anyone remember this color and what it was called or have a picture?

if not, just get a bone or oyster one and use a chartreuse bait marker on the sides

No, that's not it.

I'm not necessarily looking to make a similar one. I'm interested in it because I had it when I was a kid.

They had a color/pattern like you’re describing called “caterpillar” or something like that. Hope that helps some.

Thanks, but nope, that's not it either.

Contact Mike Russell at bag 5 baits. He can paint you a few however you want.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of him. Again, though, I am not looking to have traps made in this color. I am looking to find a picture and name of the color in question.

This one? RT640 Bones Chrome Gold

No sir.

Best I recall it was completely white with chartreuse stripes.

If you look on Bill Lewis web page you will see what colors are available.

Yes, I've looked there. The color I'm thinking of is discontinued.

I've also looked through ebay's listing for traps to no avail.

You got me.  Now I need to see this one

This one is pretty similar to the one you linked. It doesn't really match your description though.

Color is Orange Crawdad.

It's vintage.

Are you 100% positive it was Bill Lewis trap and not some other brand?

You might want to check lucky craft and see if they have anything close in the LV 500.

They used to have a pearl with chartreuse stripes in crankbaits may offer it in 500.

Thanks, but again, I'm not looking to buy a lipless crankbait in the color scheme I am describing. Rather, I am looking to find a picture of a lure I had when I was a kid.

If it's on the web page you will have a picture.

Sounds familiar;  are you sure it wasn't a Heddon Sonic?

Nope

It's not on their page because it is discontinued.

Yes. I hadn't heard of that so I looked it up. Definitely a Bill Lewis Trap. Back then I had only 1 other brand, the Cordell Super Spot.

Is there a chance it was bone or white and someone painted chartreuse stripes to “dress it up”?

No. I wasn't messing with used stuff back then. I most likely bought it from Bass Pro.

I am pretty sure it was white and not off white. The Chartreuse stripes weren't very bright because they were on a white background. I can't remember if it had a chartreuse back or not.

No sir, that one isn't white.

I took a look in my 1989 Bass Pro catalog and didn’t find anything close to your description, I’ll keep an eye out for anything else around here that may show it.
