Stihl backpack leaf blower -- these things are awesome!

Featured Replies

Over this past weekend, my wife and I were finally able to find the smaller gas powered leaf blower by Stihl, for this upcoming deluge of fall leaves...  See, we also have a POS Walmart hand held battery operated leaf blower, but it only lasts (max) 10 minutes if that, and you have to swap in another battery.  This thing is cool called the BR-200 and is Stihl's most lightest, most compact, backpack style gas leaf blower.  Stihl BR-200 <-- click on the link.

Anyone else have a gas powered leaf blower on a backpack?  They are incredible! 😎

I don’t have one but I have a Stihl blower that has been going for at least 20 years.

I wish I would have went that route then my hand held.  The hand held works great but I should have got the pack.

Same.  Have Husqvarna handheld.  Fighting the torque for an hour is a bit of a workout.

I have a Huskvarna 580BTS, biggest I could get, I suppose it would be considered heavy. Yes, it does a great job, however it can be a hassle to start if you don’t do a yearly PM, and after an hour or so my neck starts to scream. I do appreciate the power, I’ve got a lot of trees that seem to drop leaves over a prolonged period. For my needs I wouldn’t go smaller.

i do have a Stihl BGA86 battery job that I use all year, works well for little jobs but no way it could do the whole yard. Cons: it’s all plastic, meaning the switch is cheesy. I have to take it in for cleaning once or twice a year.

Thanks for all the great replies...  My wife and I just have a small suburban lot here in the western suburbs of Richmond, VA.  I mean, pffffftttt... My backyard fence itself is about 70' x 75' (if I remember right from the property deed, etc...) which is +/- 5,250 sq feet.  Silver maples, black cherry, and willow oak trees surround my backyard all the way around.

We didn't need a gigantic leaf blower, but wanted a gas powered one on a backpack that was lightweight and suitable for the smaller type of property.

My use of the word 'torque' has been bothering me the past couple hours.  Google's AI tells me I meant 'gyroscopic precession'.  :)

I have a lot of leaves coming down right now. Maple, birch, and some other kind I don’t know. I’ve been mulching them with the toro. The vortex technology obliterates them into small pieces.

I did that for quite a while...then my toro couldn't handle it anymore

And BTW, not a pleasant experience when you mulch up some dog mines under those leaves. I was on the wrong side of that episode. :Idontknow:

I can get away with mulching the smaller leaves but once the oaks start, forget about it.

It’s like trying to mulch paper plates.

This BR 600 unit has been making it happen for a while now.

Completed the final cleanup out back today before we get buried in snow.

I had a 500 cfm, jumped to an 800 and its night and day. I get LOTS of leaves on my property, oaks and maples everywhere.

Make sure you properly winterize it or else you'll be sorry next year.

I live in a small neighborhood, on a small lot. I switched over to Ego Power tools about 7 yrs ago. My batteries finally started going out on me. My next purchase will be the backpack blower from Ego.

Have a Echo 770t that will blow snow and fold the mirrors in on my truck 😂.
