Berkley Finisher and Krej

Featured Replies

Has anyone had success with these? I ask because at the moment they are deeply discounted on Tackle Warehouse from $16.99 to $5.99 for the Krej and $11.99 to $4.99 for the Finisher. No other bait is that deeply discounted which makes me think these suck and they are trying to unload them. I haven't tried any yet.

I've used the smaller Finisher for fishing smallmouth and have caught fish on it. It's worked when I needed it but they are other baits I use that produce consistently so it the ole sayin, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I looked at the Krej and love the jerk bait bite. I almost bit on that sale too but decided to restock with what I know works.

I grabbed the 5 Finisher in early fall on an impulse order because of the discount.  I'd like to think there's a place for it in my summer schoolie chasing in open water, as it didn't find a spot in the colder water version of it this fall/winter.  Coaxing a convincing action out of it has been more challenging than I wanted though.  Might be a worthwhile $5 gamble for you, even if I haven't made it work yet.

People LOVE the Jackal Riser 007 and the Krej is a copy.....so I'd definitely give it a try for the price.

FFS gimmick lures in my opinion hahaha!  I think they hit the clearance bin early for a reason…

The Krej has been hard to keep in stock locally, but it's not being fished like it was intended. Fished quickly just below the surface for busting fish, it launches like a missle and then stays up easily with a subtle wobble on the retrieve. I've had good luck with it when they're seeing too many spinnerbaits or combing wind blown flats fished in the same fashion.

Very littke experience with the finisher. The KREJ was intended as a FFS bait. Works ok, kinda gimicky. But the KREJ fished as a topwater bait on herring lakes.....AMAZING!!! I fish the chrome 85 size from late spring to mid-fall. The big spots anniahlate it down here. Its very much a take on the Jackall Riser, but casts wayyyy better. The 85 size KREJ is a small profile that I can easily casr 125' to reach the schooling activity.

I fish the Krej as a Wake bait, not as a jerk bait.

Seeing the comments I'm thinking about the post spawn period up north just as the mayfly hatch goes in full swing. They are always searching to eat the larvae and sucking them right off the surface. This could be an option.

you can fish the finisher just like a blade bait in winter let it fall and raise it up just enough to let it start to vibrate then let it fall again…
