Steps.

Featured Replies

How many of you older folks have steps on their trailers to help get in and out of their boat. I'm older and don't have good balance anymore so bought some last week. They haven't arrived but I'm looking forward to being safer. I'll post pictures when they arrive and are installed.

Mine came with them. They are there so I use them.

i have been thinking about steps - sure would make it easier, watching with interest.

My parents have some on their 2090 Warrior. This thing is like a barge with very high gunnels so these steps are basically mandatory unless you want to use a step ladder instead.

The type of boat would make a significant difference in many cases. If age, mobility, and balance are an issue, then the type of boat shouldn't matter.

I'm in the middle of my 6th decade and very happy to have made it this far.

My strength, balance, flexibility, dexterity, mental acuity, endurance, vision and hearing

have all experienced some decline.

It effects my fishing as well as most all of my everyday life.

I manage my fishing trips so I don't use up so much energy I put myself (and others) at risk.

Fatigue is a huge factor in many 'accidents.'

I added a set of trailer steps at the bow.

Significantly smoother getting on & off my rig now.

At the ramp & in the garage.

Completed the install June 2023.

Easy - a couple wrenches, a third arm and we were good to go.

Spent some extra time with the fitment decision.

Only wanted to mount this deal once.

And I didn't have to move anything, which was nice.

Here's 1 'before' pic and 3 'after install' pics.

PSA - if you even think you need these - you do.

I didn’t think I needed steps but my Z21 has a good drop to the ground when parked and especially on the jack. Normally I just dropped a leg over the side onto multiple built in steps on the trailer. They are in the fender and along the frame up front. If I was feeling younger than my 68 years, I would just hop off the deck to the ground. Let’s just say I was getting some indications that wasn’t a smart move anymore. Where I have found the steps more valuable, is getting into the boat from the ground as well as exiting. I got Trick Steps as a birthday gift and it was an easy install. I have grown to really like them. Get used to seeing the hand pole shaking during trailering and make sure to periodically check the mounting brackets to keep them snug. Zoom in on my pic to see.

Excellent. It's definitely safer than doing the climbing/gymnastics that some folks do. I'm 50 but when I get a bigger boat it will have steps.

Thanks gentlemen. Besides being old and unsteady I'm also short so the steps by the tires aren't a big help. A 4' step ladder is what I'm using at home.

Added Trick Steps to the Phoenix I just ordered.
