Bait specific boxes

Featured Replies

I’m trying to get better organized with my tackle. I have the cheap 3600 plastic boxes that look like a tornado gone off lol. I stuff in to many baits, jigs, chatters, jerkbaits, cranks etc into to small of a box.

Been looking at the Plano edge boxes. I have the terminal box love that one, just bought a 3700 regular box.

Heard the jig box has problems with crushing weed guards. Any other boxes to keep jigs and bladeds organize?

How’s the hard bait box from Plano edge?

Trying to avoid pulling out 2 other baits with the one I want to use or digging through an endless sea of skirts to find that 1/2 ounce flippin jig

Organization and consistency are the keys for me.

Regardless of the tackle organization 'system' I use,

it's up to me to restow baits properly.

Every time, all the time.

I use plain old 3700 boxes and with a little preparation and forethought,

They work quite well for me.

I use spinnerbait-specific boxes and recently changed out my soft plastic storage program,

as the previous version was aging poorly.

I like the 3700 Plano Edge boxes and the knock off ones from KastKing. The Plano Edge Jig box does crush some of the weed guards on jigs but I just fold them back when I put on a trailer. It's not a big deal. I do like the Edge Terminal boxes and the Spinnerbait box. On the KastKing boxes, I like the latch better. They hold up and do their job.

I think the problem for me is that I have too much stuff and I cram the boxes full of specific baits. Lately, I have been just carrying two 3700 boxes in a backpack with my favorites and a few new ones. I put my terminal in small pouches. I keep soft plastic in one of dividers in the same backpack. When I am done fishing, I cycle through those baits and pick out some different ones for the next trip.

I use the standard 3600 and 3700 size boxes. I like to keep each type of bait in their own box, but sometimes out on the water I don't have time to organize. My spinnerbaits are kept in an old Plano spinnerbait box. Instead of trays it has hangers that the hooks go over.

I keep each bait in its own box but it’s a bit disorganized.

After looking at this collection, I finally broke down and bought my first batch of Megabass vision 110’s. If only my wife knew that the $122 dollar TW charge was for 6 jerkbaits…😢

I can’t really add anything to the bladed jig and jig storage. I keep them in 3700 and store by type/color and size. That’s the best way that I found and it’s the perfect blend of organization and efficiency for me.

I would like to point out two pieces of gear that I absolutely love. You could use these with your existing edge terminal box depending on how much gear you have.

The first is the X-large spro terminal tackle box. All of my bullet weights, drop shot weights, Carolina weights, nail weights, etc all fit in here perfectly as well as some other terminal accessories. It makes breaking off much less of a hassle when everything is right there in one box.

The next is the g-box foam hook case. I cannot recommend this enough. I keep 6-7 of each type of hook in this case so I can store my bulk hooks in the back of the boat.

This gives me room for other stuff up front which is a HUGE deal for me, especially in a tournament if I have a co-angler.

Did you ever consider that maaaaayyyybe you have enough vision 110s? 😆

But very true statement there. Organization is only as good as your willingness to put the baits back in there proper spot. Last year I was lazy and ended up with a "most used baits" box that I would routinely just stuff baits into that I was frequently taking out because I didn't want to go through and find their actual box lol.

I'll take questions with no answer for $400, Alex.

As stated by others I have a small spinner bait box - I have a 3600 box marked Z-Elastec so I make sure I only put Z-Man/Elastomer baits in it (each in their own individual spot so they don't melt) - then, similar to A-Jay I put "like" lures into boxes marked with what is in them (Cranks 1 to 4 ft., Bladed Jigs, MB Griffons, ect...).....I use 3600 boxes as my boat does not have storage so I tote a large top zipper opening dry bag on and off the boat (it holds 8 to 10 - 3600 boxes)

@A-Jay - excellent video - could you share with us some info. on the rubber bands you place on the treble hooks -- Why rubber bands versus "hook safety caps" ? Are they easy to put on/take off ? Are they just generic mini-rubber bands ?

I ask because I was thinking about using bread bag ties to do the same thing but they are a bit clunky to twist on and off each time --- Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom

@WaskaCrank12 I have a buddy in my club that said the caps on the treble hooks don’t always seat properly and then you go to grab them and enough hook point is sticking out to jab your fingers. That was enough for me to pass on those.

Didn't realize I started this so long ago, but here's the thread. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/217157-hard-bait-treble-hook-banding-~/

I really like the Plano Edge jig box for bladed jigs.

I don't really use any bait specific boxes other than that one. Being in a kayak most of the time just doesn't allow for it.

I may get that for bladed jigs and use a better organized regular box for regular jigs
