Fuzzy/Dice Style Baits

Featured Replies

Anyone have any strong opinions on these? It occurred to me that I have more skirt material for tying jigs than I will ever use, and my wife has yarn needles to spare. I could mindlessly make more of these baits than I could use while watching videos.

I used one on a dropshot under docks yesterday and couldn't even get a nibble.

Ive been making them for twenty years. I take a half a stick bait and thread skirt material through it with a sewing needle and fish them on a jighead. I dont use bright colors. Red or white gets nibbled on by sunfish.

Am a huge fan of all bug/mushi/poop baits and is one of my primary presentations.

Through buying a few of the Bentos from the Hook Up Tackle, I have acquired 12-15 packs of the OSP Dice. I fish them on a drop shot with a cps spring in the middle. I catch fish on them, mainly dinks and very few good ones but I have had the same bait tied on since October of last year. The way I fish it and the way I rig it, it looks new.

They are definitely fun to fish though. The fish I catch tend to smash it. I drag it slow, stop it for a second and give it a quick side pop, pop and that seems to get the fish to bite it. The problem has been the wind as of late. It has been really bad. It doesn't matter where I am the wind is blowing me out of position quickly. Yesterday, for the fun of it, I turned on my maps to see how fast I was going. With the wind, I got up to 4.2mph. I think we had gusts around 30mph. Sad thing was, when I got to my lake it was fine but in less than 2 hours, it was over.

I have a few of the Coike style baits, several dice, and some other small baits that are like the Coike but much smaller. I certainly have more of that style bait than I've caught fish with them, and I just ordered a few more yesterday. They look good in the water, and obviously they catch fish, but our fish seem very unimpressed with them so far. I'm doing my best to change their minds though.

I have tried the coike style baits a few times neko rigged and daimiki rigged... I've seen fish follow it on livescope but I've never caught anything with it yet

Milliken has posted several videos using the new 6th Sense version. He is smashing bigs fishing it like a jerkbait using FFS. I have only used the smaller Z baits on a free rig. I call it the skunk buster. I have probably caught 5 different species on that rig - but nothing over 4 lbs.
