rod for worms?

Featured Replies

what rod do y'all use for larger plastic worms, lizards, and senko's?

All unweighted, smaller jig, and light bullet weighted Senko's, tubes, Power worms, etc... I use my BSR803 spinning rod. Heavier stuff, like SwimSenko's, I have to move up to my SJR783. This year, my MBR rod might get called apon to do that duty though. I don't have a technique specific rod for the heavy plastics.

My BCR803 has taken over almost all of my plastics work except light plastics (less than 3/16) which my BCR852 handles. I rarely throw anything greater than 3/4.

For Senkos and Ikas I use an Avid 6'8" MXF.

For larger T-tigged plastics I use a JM Sig Series 7' MH, or for short casting situations, a team Daiwa Light & Tough 6'3" MH.

All baitcasters with PT reels.

Cheers,

GK

Awesome!  I also have the same rod and I scored it for $59 to boot. I bought it to be my jig rod but I am glad to hear this is great for worming.

It has not seen much use until last week when I first tried it for jig fishing. I was dragging a 1/2 oz football jig at 50' down and even being a jig newbie, with this rod I felt the take and set the hook.  My beyond frozen hands couldn't seal the deal and the fish got off but this is a little testament about what I have discovered about my crucial to date.

So I guess I'll x3 it for worms.  :o

You got it for $59 :o? I paid $200 for mine ! How did you manage that islandbass? Great rod though eh? I bought mine for heavy cover wormin'.

For texas rigged lizards with a 3/16oz weight and Senkos, I like using a Loomis MBR803.  I also use a St. Croix Avid AS68MXF.  This rod is great for weightless Senkos and Ikas.

I paid under $100 for mine but then I get 25% off; I throw every thing from Wacky Worms to 5/16 oz Texas Rigs.

The 6' 10 length fits me perfectly  :o

Holy smokes, for under $100 I'd buy 3 Crucials .

A St. Croix EC68MXF, and a Loomis BCR852.

This season I need to pick up a few rods for heavier presentations.  I'm probably going to go with a BCR853, a Shimano Cumara 68MHXF, and a Kistler HE76HC.

If I can find a good enough deal, I'd friggin' love to pick up  a Steez STZ 711HFBA.

God, I'm going to break the bank here and these are just plastics rods.  This doesn't include the respective reels, a crankin stick, a few walleye rods....... This never ends does it?

St Croix Avid AC68MXF.  8-)

Well, I have 3 worm rods, but for larger rigs I use a 6'6" HF (Heavy / Fast) Rainshadow RX7 blank that I built on and a Calcutta 100 with Yo Zuri Hybrid 12# test.  Works like a charm! 8-)

Well, I stopped by a local shop with the intent of buying nothing and I walked over to the Shimano rods. The Crucial's price tag was $59. Confused, I asked the guy and he confirmed the price.

I couldn't believe it so I snatched it up. I screwed up at the same time. There were 2 other 6'10 MHs same model. I could have bought them and even if I sold them for $100.00, I would still have made a good profit and gave the person a saving. Stupid me! >:o
