I've used Stren Super braid. I love it. The line does fade a little too soon but it is round vs ( the dental floss stuff ) and casts well. I thought that both Power Pro and Spider wire looked like floss and would split / shred easy.

i use suffix braid 40#......

i love the stuff, and really cant think of any complaints i could make for it.......

thats my vote!!!

Well, it looks like it comes down to Suffix or Power Pro! Since i hear Suffix fades slower, i will probably go with that one!

I think there is some merit in checking out one of the new 8 strand braids rather than the older 4 strand varieties. (Several have been mentioned above.)

Can anybody chime in and explain this to me? Which lines have the 4 strand and which have the 8?

Oh thank goodness when it said you were switching I thought this was gonna lead to an appearance on the Jerry Springer Show

my mistake

10# PP freshwater

15# pp inshore salt

20# pp offshore salt

30# gorilla braid offshore trolling

I have had problems with wind knots when using power pro, suffix to me is the best!

I had the wind loops all the time too when using a spinning reel. switched to suffix and haven't looked back. I use lighter 20# too.

8 strand braid are fireline braid,diawa braid,spiderwire ultracast(imho stinks)

6 strand braid is sufix

4 strand braids are powerpro and most others

4 strand braids are not as round as 8 strand braids.they are not as smooth and make more noise.they dig into the spool more.

6 strand sufix is an improvement.sufix is ok but the color bled all over my reels.

8 strand is the way to go.a lot of guys also like the diawa braid.i think it is to soft imho.

My research shows that Suffix is an 8 strand as well? Anyway, i bought a couple spools of Suffix today and a couple of Power Pro. Since my bro fishes with me most of the time, we are going to test them back to back! THANKS A LOT GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear the samurai braid breaks well under its listed strength and at 70 bucks for 300 yrds aint worth it IMO

My first complaint already about both Power Pro and Suffix is that the color bleeds all over the reel and rod!!! Not cool at all!!!! >:o

It'll stop eventually. Suffix is better though and uk it, power pro feels like it is to stiff. I do like the Fireline braid, wish i went with a 30# instead of 50# it seems to heavy.

I hope so man! I got all the line in 65lb test! I will be fishing some serious lily pad/hydrilla mix fields tomorrow at first light!

Also, can anyone tell me the correct way to tie a double palomar knot? I have heard three different ways so far!!!!!

Just delet one loop http://www.thaifishingguide.com/fishtechequip/techniques/knots/triple_palomar_knot_steps.html

I think i will go with this one man! The other version i saw was double the overhand knot! THANKS

The new fireline is very good ,but power pro is a proven winner in my books.

i told you it would.

65# Power Pro is what i use, have never had a break off as of yet!! Looking forward to something that heavy to pull my line.

i used to use power pro on one of my baitcasters and liked it a lot but when throwing heavy lures and occasionally when fish on it would dig into itself and backlash on next cast... i the spooled up the reel with about 25 yards of mono then power pro and it helped a lot with the digging. i like fireline now i dont have any problems with it, but i do want to put suffix on a reel to test it out.

Well after a full day of fishing the Suffix and Power Pro, neither are a walk in the park! They both dig into their selves pretty bad. Both leak color all over everything. Both are a PITA when they kink and both make a horrific noise when coming through the guides! But...................i got a hit from a 7lb 6oz bass in thick pads/hydrilla and had absolutely no problems horsing it in. So, i will leave the braid on for now i guess!

strip it off and put on 65 lb fireline braid.no color bleed on your reels and no digging.hardly any noise through the guides compared to the other 2.
