The Kistler Magnesium would be a great choice!

Falcon Cara T7, exteemly light and sensitive. In my opinion prtobably underpriced. Great warranty and trade up program much like St Croix. Give it a look you may be suprised.

There is no Best.  There are only opinions.  Five fishermen already have supplied you with five different opinions.  I could give you my opinion.  That would make six.  Others will come behind me and give you their opinions.  So, you will have learned nothing. about which is the "best."  Find a rod you like in your price range.  In your hands it will soon become the best.  That's how everyone else decided their rod was the best.

BTW, I wouldn't take Muddy's advice.  He cuts the bottom out of his pants pockets and plays with a different rod.   ;D

    There are a whole bunch of fantastic rods under $200.00 but I would have to say that a Carrot Stix is hard to beat.

Avid, Powell, Kistler Magnesium, Carrot Stix, Damiki Dark Angel.

There are just too many to narrow down a best

And if you wait you could buy a IMX for around that price. But if its retail value than a crucial or avid, love both of mine

The AVC68MXF is a better rod for plastics and medium weight jigs.

The AVC66MF is the better choice for treble hook lures: Fast Action

with a soft tip. My AVC66MF is a dedicated topwater/ jerkbait rod.

BTW,

$150 - $200 is the target range for most manufacturers "high-end".

This gives everyone a price advantage to G. Loomis. I have a

Dobyns, Techna AV and Lamiglas rod in this pricing slot. However,

I'm a St. Croix fan and the majority are Avids: AVS66MLF, AVC66MF,

AVC70MM and AVC70MF.

Above the slot, I also have two St. Croix Legend Elite: EC70MHF and

ES70MF. The rest are G.Loomis.

So, if I'm lookin' a ratltrap/pop-r rod to fish from the kayak, the 66mf is the way to go. I use a 7ft mhf mojo for spinnerbaits, worms, jigs, and buzzbzits. I almost want to get the premier or another mojo b/c I'm constantly beating my rods to hell in the kayak. A PC66MF or a MBC66MF.

Im going to say give the GBlanks a try, for the money and what your looking for you'll love it...the Rainshaow blanks are excellent and its yours, customize it they way want it.

Fenwick Tecna AV, the Crucials are also pretty nice.
