steezy
This thread was too soon. I have a custom rod ordered from Matt Davis at Otterods but it won't be ready till Feb cause we are still waiting on Gary Loomis/NFC to make their new top of the line "HM Next" rod blank. Ive selected a red marble reel seat and chrome components and to of the line fuji guides to go on the raw black matte rod blank. It should look awesome. Got a new core 50 mg for it to send Matt to balance the rod. Should be a sweet combo.
The Rooster
This thread might still be going then. Christmas is coming, combos will be received, and photographed, and likely posted about on here.
chasiubao73
Really nice stuff all around. The ones that have caught my eye so far is rooster's bps extreme combos and mozy's lamiglas excel/daiwa black widow 2 combo. Well I can't leave a fan with that crappy pic... Lol. nicely done. I am always curious to see what other fellow anglers have on their Lamiglas Excel rods since I've picked a few up during the Black Friday sales. Currently I have a 704C with last seasons Revo STX. The current influx of the new valued rods are a welcomed sight. It's fun to pair them up with reels in your collection. I enjoy fishing my Cyclone Evoluzion/Aldebaran combo just as much as my Lamiglas Excel/Revo STX combo.
L a r r y
Wooooowwwwwwwwwww this thread has really taken off. There are so many nicely setup combos. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE THAT SHARED THEIR PHOTOS.... I say we go use some of his sweetly setup combos and then go back to his house and have him mix up a few tastey beverages. I'm pretty sure that he can come up with a few, just look at the combos that he's put together.
SWMIBASSER
I would post some pics, but I have a Citica 200e and a Sahara 2500, both mounted on Lightning Rods.Funny thing, I still catch fish! My first combo purchase this year was the Ugly Stick with a Shakespeare 6:3.1 b/c. I've used that combo all summer, and have caught numerous fish on it. I'm just now getting into spending any kind of money on combos, but nothing like what others are doing on here Look to the flea market area. I picked up an excellent condition Loomis Mossyback 7'1 MH, XF, for $90 cheaper than new, and that included shipping. Good rods will help you catch more fish. Good reels are for showing off, and/or keeping yourself happy. If they don't backlash and don't break, and the right speed, they (cheap reels) will catch just as much fish as the $500+ reels like some pictured in here. Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 5, 2009 Super User Share Posted December 5, 2009 Dang, I always just miss the drama. No pics for now, but on a side note I picked-up four rods over the weekend: a Fuego, a Zillion, and two 09' LTA's. Oh, and got the TW deal on a Certate 2500 too. I now have no money, seriously. Fat-G
Rick, How do you like the 7' Powell 705c? I see you have a Curado saddled up, and I have a Citica so they're basically the same shape. What do you use it for? I might be getting one soon. BTW, nice arsenal

I got it late this season but have had it out a few times. Fished mostly larger T-rigs, jigs, and small swimbaits, have thrown larger spinnerbaits with it as well. It seems to be best suited for larger contact baits.

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Share Posted December 6, 2009 Dan,Cal over at TT didnt like the reel in it's stock form. My BBS reels have been worked over a bit. Replaced the drag, upgraded bearings, it's like a whole different reel. I know plenty of guys that have waaay more tackle than I do. Here's a pic of one of my friends' Megabass rod collection. The rod just showed up on my porch the other day, I guess the reel will be here shortly ;D
mozy
Well I was swapping reels around today and I think I found my new favorite. I haven't had a chance to use it yet(3" of ice now), but it balances perfectly and is very light. Even my fiance commented on how light it was and she knows absolutely nothing about fishing. Anyways, here's a pic...

Super User Root beer Posted December 6, 2009 Super User Share Posted December 6, 2009 I'll get pictures of rest of my set-up over the winter when I do my annual "inventory count". I love my collections, they are mostly mid-range rods and reels, but they are excellent work horse and gets the job done. I have the following set-ups: Revo SX paired on a Airrus Co-Matrix (this my favorite) Shimano Sedona with St. Croix Mojo rod (my second favorite) Revo SX paired with a custom rod (pics below, this is one I used for the heavy stuff, timbers, grass, etc) Daiwa Viento with daiwa S rod (twitching bar isn't that great, but I just used it for reeling slacks) Those are just name a few, rest are mostly mid-range BPS rods that I used for crankbaits and topwaters. The ones I mention above are for worms and jigs. My dad has a carrot stick that I like, but I rarely ever touch it.

SWMIBASSER
This thread has been interesting, entertaining, and worst of all inspiring. I think after all the tricked out reels I've seen, I've been inspired to build one myself.
