I was at dickerson on sunday.  the river was raging.  it was all brown and part of the outflow island was flooded. I hooked something that deemed very small and it threw the hook.  Just remember guys, it is illegal to keep any largemouth or smallmouth bass from the potomac near dickerson.  I will probablly be there some over winter break.

I just checked the levels and I can imagine it was rolling along pretty good! The levels were roughly 3' higher when I was the the weekend before!  :)

Yeah, no doubt! I've seen some hunters back there but haven't heard any shots!

I know a spot down from the parking lot and there's a bank that, under normal circumstances, is usually about 4' or so down to the water. When I was there last, the water up even with the bank there.  :)     I tried moving up stream to where the creek comes in (it was clear) to fish the mud line but there were a bunch of guys already camped out there.

Nice. Think I would have been ducking for sure!

I no they have surveyed muskies down that way but I have never hooked into any muskies at PEPCO. Smallies, walleye, rick bass, crappie and catfish are all I've hooked there. The majority of my musky fishing is in Washington county. That's where the highest population resides according to the DNR reports.

An other Marylander here. I fish mainly fish Little Seneca The northern Potomac and the Monocacy along with creeks such as seneca creek during the hottest days of summer since the waters are cooler in the creeks. I live like 5 minutes away from Needwood and Frank but however those lakes just suck.

Went to Dickerson today, caught about 20 dinks (smallmouth about 8-10 inches).  Also hooked into something with that broke my line, probably a catfish.  The water was high, but it was my first time there so I don't know exactly how high it was.

I caught all of mine on 2 inch Storm curl tails.  I plan on going again this weekend sometime.  Hopefully there will be some bigger ones in there.

Nice work Mike. That's about the size of the smallies I was catching there the last time I was there. Was the herring hanging around there begging for food? Every time I would catch one, it would fly over to me waiting to see what I was going to do with the smallie. At one point, it was no more than 5' from me.

I'm planning on hitting PEPCO on tuesday (visiting family in PA now).

Well, I made it out to PEPCO today. Conditions weren't the best since they weren't discharging any warm water. I managed 4 small smallies on cranks. One on a firetiger and the others on a khaki/brown back/red belly Bandit 100 series.

Saw the herring again but it decided not to beg for food this time!  ;D

Went to another warm water discharge on the Potomac yesterday with a friend in his boat.  WE CLEANED UP!  We ended up catching at least 15 quality fish.  The water temp was 55 to 60 degrees and I caught a 4.6 pounder on a Terminator spinnerbait.  Hard to believe that I was catching fish in Maryland in the middle of winter on a spinnerbait.  We caught fish on everything from crankbaits to soft plastics.

We also ended up snagging several 10-12 pound carp.  Man can those things pull when they are snagged.  It was a great day on the water.  The air temp was also decent.  We were close to 60 degrees today.

FISHING SEASON NEVER CLOSES!

Talk about bad timing, weather was great when I was down in TN. Now back home and its cold, windy. To add insult to injury I come home to these reports of good fishing......   :-[

oh well, guess will wait until I can order a 2009 license then hope for good weather again.....

Hey Brian,

For PEPCO, my better outings there are best on the days that are on the nasty cold side! The other day when I was there, the temps were mild and they weren't pumping any warm water what so ever. I really worked hard to get the 4 I did. Not sure yet, but I might try getting out on sunday (got my license this evening!  ;D ). I'd go tomorrow but I'm hitting Bass Pro to spend some Christmas $!!!  :)

Hey Mike,

Where was the warm water spot you were fishing? I only know of the one here in Williamsport and the one in Dickerson. I copied your link and was able to pull up the pic. Nice work!

I will be there all day Saturday. Most likely found hanging out at the Indian Head Charters booth. 6' 250# bald guy. Ask the guy at the booth if I'm around.

I'd try to set something up but my truck is in the shop and I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to go yet.

My plan WAS to go on saturday but if the truck isn't ready then I'll have to miss it this year.  :)

If someone else wants to arrange a place to meet up, go for it!!!
